Re: [OTTD] New Japan Transit Company
Well, it doesn't surprise me in any way, I expect this kind of odd name to pop out someday, stadiums already are sponsored, so... airports, why not ?
Re: [OTTD] Nuevo Renfe (Was New Japan Transit Company)
New game, new start, using Chrill's Spanish Scenario
Too many problems with the old map sadly, with trains ending up all over the place and freight trains messing up passenger timetables.
First off - a rather excellent map

Re: [OTTD] Nuevo Renfe (Was New Japan Transit Company)
1. We begin our journey at the capital city of Fuenjirola, the capital city and city of bridges, seeming as the settlement was founded on an island in the middle of a lagoon. Being the terminus for two regional lines, a hovercraft connection and an AVE high speed line, it gets rather congested at times. There is debate over whether to build new rail lines to the existing Estácio de Zapatero (named after the Spanish Prime Minister who authorised the building of the AVE network), or to build another station on the other side of the water.
2. To try out the rail system, we decide to buy a cheap ticket to Medina on the other side of the network. By taking the regional train rather than the AVE, we can save approximately 1/3 of the fare, although we arrive an hour later. The tickets explicitly states the route to deter any confusion, or to prevent railfans from taking ridiculously out-of-the-way routes on a cheap ticket
3. Leaving immediately after the AVE which would proceed non-stop to the port, our comparatively slower train loses pulls into the first station of Tiachento. Due to 3 trains per hour using the line at speeds varying from 100mph to 187mph, paths have to be immaculately timed. An East coast services heading for the capital stops on the middle platform while the AVE service rockets through at full speed. Between here and the port, there are no more overtaking opportunities so any delays would affect the following express.
Tiachento is also the interchange point for the Nueva Madrid community line, leaving every 3 hours. Residents are currently campaigning for a direct service to Fuenjirola but at 62mph, there are no paths for the single railcar which plys the line.

Re: [OTTD] Nuevo Renfe (Was New Japan Transit Company)
Very nice screenshots. My only suggestion would be to look at this post. As you can see it contains a grf combining thgergo's TBRS with the North American Roads (as done by Smaug; there is a TTRS road version there as well) which might help improve the look of Fuenjirola, the city of bridges.

Loving it. [ad]If you wanna play this scneario, click the "Archipi.." whatever in my signature. Awesome scenario[/ad].
I love your screenshots, it's so great to see a creation of mine coming to life in someone elses hands. I'm honored
Especially considering your approach. I love the realisticness you set the whole thing up with. Tickets, route-maps, similar. It's great

Re: [OTTD] Nuevo Renfe (Was New Japan Transit Company)
Excellentness, have you got some sort of exact timetabling-ness going on that I haven't heard about, or is this just fiddling with the normal timetabling options?

Re: [OTTD] Nuevo Renfe (Was New Japan Transit Company)
Three shots with timetables on, just for beeb
---
4. Our train stops at Orusto for a few minutes, and then continues on its way. Orusto is bypassed by the express AVE trains, and the departure board shows a train leaving every hour, northbound at xx51 and southbound at xx04. Note that the coach closest to the electric locomotive is a first class carriage, marked by the golden streak although the service, catering and comfort offered on the AVE train is far superior.
5. We arrive at Puerto de Tojo Rojo a busy time. While we pull into platform 2, the AVE at platform 1 leaves, immediately to be followed by the slow train at platform 3 to make best available use of the shared line for fast and stopping services. In fact, by the time it arrives at Fuenjirola, it will crawl into the station immediately in front of the subsequent AVE line showing the immaculate timetabling. East Coast trains will always use platform 4 which is unelectrified to avoid conflicts with the electric trains.
As shown on the timetable, just before the top of the hour is a busy time for departures. xx49 is the AVE, xx54 is the Stopper and xx57 is the East Coast local. Some infrequent travellers, mainly readers of the "Correo cada día" have criticised the fact that hovercraft connections do not connect perfectly with rail services (the four services an hour leave evenly every 15 minutes) but it is necessary to avoid conflicting movements in the bay.
6. After a short timetabled stop in the tourist haven of Oscano on the island of Tortugana, our boat arrives at the port of Nueva Londres. The automatic announcer comes over on the tannoy translated into English: "The train now standing at platform 1 is the 0425 Bogavante Main Line service to Bindorra. For connections to Mendina, take this service at change at Dennelero". Seeming as it'll be one and a half hours, we find a comfy seat with a table aligned to the windows. Reaching speeds of 112mph, they are Nuevo Renfe's fastest diesel stock so far.

Nice screenies
Out of interest, which version of OTTD are you using? Very interested in trying out the timetabling in that way.

It's cargodest with the Improved Timetable Management - and thanks
I find that you actually need minimal infrastructure when you timetable your trains correctly. It might take a bit of getting used to, but seeing everything just work like clockwork is really satisfactory, especially when one train clears a junction just as another needs to use it etc

Is it a version you compiled yourself or?

Re: [OTTD] Nuevo Renfe (Was New Japan Transit Company)
I used to compile but I got a bit fed up with cygwin
It's available on the forums somewhere as a zip - this version probably existed before December at least, but I don't see any problems with it at all (apart from the lack of "Leave on Time" which I'd love to see in any newer version). Have a look back in the ImTM thread back a few months - they used to compile them together since they're perfect counterparts for each other.

Re: [OTTD] Nuevo Renfe (Was New Japan Transit Company)
This schedules looks fine.

Re: [OTTD] Nuevo Renfe (Was New Japan Transit Company)
See I don't think I could be arsed to start with timetables then update them as I upgrade stock. It'd cause too many headaches! Although, this implementation might make some of my networks somewhat tidier but then it'd be less interesting!

Re: [OTTD] Nuevo Renfe (Was New Japan Transit Company)
Haha, excellent, so they have impressionable right-wingers in Spain too! I do love the timetabling idea and everything running like clockwork, however...JamieLei wrote:Some infrequent travellers, mainly readers of the "Correo cada día"...

Actually I don't think I ever upgrade passenger stock, hence I never need to redo timetablesbeeb375 wrote:This is a very good point!Ameecher wrote:See I don't think I could be arsed to start with timetables then update them as I upgrade stock...

Re: [OTTD] Nuevo Renfe (Was New Japan Transit Company)
But if you start a game in the 20s/30s like I do and play through to the 2000s I don't think chugging round at 31mph the whole time will please many people!
Re: [OTTD] Nuevo Renfe (Was New Japan Transit Company)
7. The service pulls in just in time to catch the connecting railcar to Mendina
8. Just north of Becharra, work is underway for the building of a second AVE line and linking another provincial island to the mainland. The project is being fanced partly with European Objective 1 funding for rural undeveloped areas. As bridges are expensive, planners debate over whether one or two bridges are needed for a projected 6tph (4 AVE, 2 local) using it. Alternative proposals are for a reduced 4tph with splitting AVE trains, although there are capacity concerns arising from the planned airport.

Ooh I like the background storyage, any chance of a map of that area with the proposed new construction? And I'm still noticing your very similar building style to mine, uncanny sometimes.
