Indeed. Some snow in between the rails might be good though ;)

Thanks. I thought about snow in between the rails and I almost did that, but then I realised that covered stations will have snow in between the rails too, and that would not be very realistic, would it?

Back to the snow, I said I had finished modifying TTRS3, but actually I haven't. Some things like cargo bays, depots and busstops need to be snowed too. The cargo bays are finished now... I always wondered why there are no snow covered versions of those.

Do you intend to do some heavily snowed roads, faded white and having tyre tracks in them, or was the snowfall not that heavy?

 No, the snowfall was not that heavy. Making the roads heavily snowed will be a lot more work. And someday in my life I intent to play with the snowed grf's so I think I it's better not to do that.

I now finished modern road depots and busstops. I'm not sure if I'm gonna modify the oldtime ones because I only play in modern times

Are you gonna make a release version of that? If yes, you should make a snowy version of the old bays and depots too. :)

No, I'm not. Coding is like abracadabra to me. Besides that there is copyright; all I've done is modifying graphics other's have created. Also I have modified a lot of grf's and therefore it would be an enormous job to make a grf out of that. It would be better to make the snowlevel lower (to sealevel).

Kind regards,
Smaug

It's been a while, but I'm back with some finished snowy work.:)
Dutch stations are now almost finished. I used some of Michael Blunck's snow from New Stations to keep everything at least a bit uniform and also to save myself a lot of time. I'm not yet satisfied with the "curved roofs". I'm thinking of making them completely snow covered. Also the "simple roofs" are too white in my opinion. Maybe they need more texture.

Coming up next: a christmas tree surrounded by people on a church square

Greetings,
Smaug

There are some colou differences on the terrain (obvious especially near those two tunnels). Is that intentional?

Not realy, it's just because the surrounding tiles are situated different (flat land). I think it's difficult to see because the terrain is gridless.

And here it is: A Christmas tree on a church square. It needs a little polishing though; little too much lights, and the surrounding crouds need more variaty. Before Christmas I will come up with something better.. :|

 I wish I could. At the moment I'm using an old stations grf - brickfreight.grf to be precise - for my modifications and "creations". I think we have to wait for the new objects project to be implemented. Or if some coder could create a blanc grf maybe, I could fill it up. But most things I make are copy and pastings from existing grf's and as far as I know it's not allowed to distribute modifications of other peoples work.

I think it's already implemented (in the nightly), it's 'just' a matter of preparing a GRF in the right way. At least the commit comments seem to indicate this:

Code: Select all

Revision: 2023
Author: lakie
Date: 18:54:53, den 13 september 2008
Message: newObjects support, specification will be updated soon.
