Whow, a city with ... how many million inhabitants? ... where subway and busses running around the clock? Unbelievable!

*btw* Why should someone use (except for testing) such an early beta version of a software?

It takes as long as the backup takes. If you'd rather I didn't back the site up, then fine, but we may lose quite a lot if the server should die...

Anyway, before I added that message, the forum simply stopped responding for about ten minutes - no pages would load - while the backup took place (as the database tables were locked). Now it gives you a nice little message. Sometimes the backup will take maybe 6-8 minutes, sometimes 12, depending on how busy the server otherwise is. It's a bit of a pain, yes, but it hardly takes a long time, and it's rather important that the backups be made.
Well... I agree in that respect.

Well, i have to say my problem is fixed (a while back) and that its just a cache problem with google chrome, which could be fixed with the full release of it (rather than just the beta i have)

So i don't see any reason this topic can't be lock, (looks like i just Backseat Moderated myself)

Sorry to bump this thread, but I've got a problem that I don't think warrants a new thread, and might indeed be related.

I cannot access tt-forums.net from home at the moment, it displays a message to the effect that the page cannot be found. I tried pinging the site, and there is no response. I can access tt-forums from work (though with the particular setup there we are technically on an American network). I am using Safari 3.1.2 on Mac OS X 10.5 and thought it might be my computer, but I tried it on my housemates Windows XP machine, and the same error message is displayed (i.e. cannot connect to site).

Here' s the weird thing- I can visit the site through a proxy (www.unblockanything.com), and it works fine. It has been like this for a few days. Is it my ISP (BT Broadband)?

Thanks,

Andy

Must be your ISP, maybe tt-forums.net ended up on the blacklist.

Control Panel -> Board Settings -> Choose whether DST is in effect or not. :)

Odd, someone was complaining about being unable to access tt-forums.net in BT Broadband on IRC the other day, but unfortunately I can't remember who it was. :P I hope we haven't been blacklisted for some reason!

There is some sort of a routing issue which is involving BT connections, basically meaning that you can't access the forums. This problem appears to be in Amsterdam, and I'm trying to get my ISP to investigate it more. Hopefully this will be resolved relatively soon.

Copied from the other thread, although i'm also with BT Broadband
For some reason when i try to load TT-Forums i get a page load error, although i try it with "anonymouse.org" and it works fine. Just a random question but is my ip address banned or something? When i reset my router TT-Forums works fine but after a couple of hours back to page load errors?

Tonight, the largest Dutch datacenter (Nikhef) gave up due to a power surge. That caused some problems with sites being unreachable for many (Dutch) internetters.

Yup:

"Due to a power failure at the NIKHEF datacenter (the largest exchange
point in the Netherlands) our network was unreachable between 23:00
and 23:20 local time. The power failure affected most major routes in
The Netherlands. The service is currently online again. We are
continuing to monitor the situation."
