I need help on adding New Graphics

ok I don't know how to add New Graphics and when I go into the game and hit the New GFR button it shows nothing am i being just stuiped at something so small and easy or do I not know what im doing?

Copy the GRF files you want to add to a subfolder in the OpenTTD/data/ folder (e.g. OpenTTD/data/newgrf/) first.
