The stats in this topic can be taken with a pinch of salt, anyway - the real statistics are the ones I posted, so there's your answer. :P

Still wonder why so many people use IE, with so many bugs it have.

Basically everybody I know who was using IE got hit by some kind of spyware or other badware sooner or later.

IE is not a browser its "badware runtime environment". ;)
If you need something, do it yourself or it will be never done.

My patches: Extra large maps (1048576 high, 1048576 wide) (FS#1059), Vehicle + Town + Industry console commands (FS#1060), few minor patches (FS#2820, FS#1521, FS#2837, FS#2843), AI debugging facility

Other: Very large ships NewGRF, Bilbo's multiplayer patch pack v5 (for OpenTTD 0.7.3)

Though, this is a quite geeky website. This is a forum for many geeks, and geeks in general are more aware of other browsers. I think if you got the stats of, for example, the MSN sites, you'd have a lot of other stats. Most people don't even know there are other options beside Internet Explorer, AFAICT.

That's pretty cool that IE is about to be overthrown by others. It helps to keep security issues down (a bit.)
I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.6 now but its not my favorite. I liked Firefox 1x better, it was a lot faster than 2x is.

EDIT: Oh and orudge, yes those stats are more reliable but not nessisarily 100% accurate. Some browsers do have option to "emulate" if you will, other browsers to sometimes access those "IE only sites" and the like.
It stinks when you have to fake something to get access granted.

Firefox here. My first act on my new laptop (new-ish, at least) was to install Firefox, even though I wouldn't get internet access for a day or two.

Adblock, NoScript, Tabs (not smelly IE tabs), and extensions rock my socks.

Oi oi oi, let's not forget the other big desktop environments browser:

Epiphany :).

*reads the rest of the thread before posting*

Bruce89, f*** spot on. You have taste man, taste.

Edit: Prof. Frink: Epiphany is getting Webkit fairly soon aswell with support for GTK controls, so we'll be ditching gecko and getting rendering closer to Konqueror/Safari. Awesome.
