Would it be possible to switch 'drive on left' after start?

Got an idea for a new feature in TTDPatch? Post it here.

Would it be possible to switch 'drive on left' after start?

Post by AndersI »

In Sweden we changed (road vehicles) from 'drive on left' to 'drive on right' in 1967. Is it even remotely possible to make such a change after a game is started?

I'm not expecting an automatic change at a certain year, but it would be really nice to be able to switch manually, and have to fix up all the one way streets etc. :-)

To be super correct, this would also need the player to rebuild all the buses to have the doors on the other side (lots of new sprites)...

Stop *ALL* road vehicles in a depot. Save game. Decompress game. Hex edit game. Compress game. Load game.

As for one-way, how is this supposed to be automatically corrected?
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

OK, thanks. Then this boils down to the new suggestion: a button for "Send all road vehicles to depot" :-)

It wasn't supposed to. The smiley was trying to indicate how fun I would have when changing all the one-way streets around, just as it was in real life here 1967.

OK, not a very serious/important suggestion, I just thought I would ask.

I don't get it... why would a one-way street have to be changed when the traffic road side changes??

Example:

Code: Select all

Old:                         New: (or vice versa)
-----------------------      ----------------------
 ------>                                   <------
               <------        ------>
---------     ---------      --------     ---------
         |   |                       |   |
         | ^ |                       | ^ |
         | | |                       | | |
         | | |                       | | |
         |   |                       |   |
---------     ---------      --------     ---------
 ------>                                   <------
               <------        ------>
-----------------------      ----------------------
So why would the north-south street be have to changed at all?
One after one, by the star-dogged Moon,
Too quick for groan or sigh,
Each turned his face with a ghastly pang,
And cursed me with his eye.

It wouldn't. The problem is when a single two-way street splits into two one-way streets.

RVs do not have collision detections. That would look ugly, but that should work

Code: Select all

And you would have to reverse it if you had complicated entry/exit junctions to highways.

There is a button like that at the bottom of the vehicle list menu. :P

No, there isn't. Pay attention to which section you're posting in.
