[OTTD] MrMox's Screenshots

Post by MrMox »

Since I've been playing OTTD for a couple of week now, I now feel fully qualified to inflict some screen shots from my current game on the world :)

The basics:

Nightly build r9542

GRFs:
  • Transmitter
  • Stolen Trees by SAC
  • Container Freight Station & Harbor
I really like to build my freight stations with this one. It's just so easy to build something good-looking in an modular fashion.
  • Industrial Stations v0.98
  • Aegir Freight Stations
  • NewStations v0.42
  • Aviators Aircraft Set (av8)
So far I have never used any kind of aircraft in my games, but at least I'm prepared.
  • North American Renewal Set
Playing NARS in sub-tropical climate has rapidly become a favorite, followed by NARS in arctic climate.
  • American Transition Roads Set v0.85
  • Total Town Replacement Set v3
Doesn't come into play in sub-tropical.
  • New Build Costs by Pikkabird/DanMacK
Been doing some experiments with modifying this one, so that tunnels cost 4x, bridges 8x and terraforming 16x, compared to the original pb_build.grf. What can I say, I'm a sucker for punishment
This game is with the unmodified pb_build.grf though.
Current game is NARS in sub-tropical, medium difficulty (with 0 competitors), realistic acc., freight weight multiplier 5 and probably some other settings I have forgotten.

Have fun :D

I agree entirely with you, I adore this set! Cant wait til the renewal comes out 8) I like the way you have set out 'Penhall West' by the way. Small, but looks effective!

The only thing that is a shame is that Aegir hasnt textured his stations a little more.
[Mental note: Must post it somewhere or PM him]

Screenshots are good, however, i find that having four platforms with only one line using one platform a little unrealistic.

Going on of what pookey said, it would look a whole lot better if they went onto two tracks not one. But besides that they're great. Keep'em coming.

Thanks all!

@Wierdy: Well, it's obviously not some über-efficient, cash cow network I'm building, but it does turn out a decent profit each year. At the end of the first decade all debts have been paid. I have a screenshot with the various graphs that I'll be posting.

@Pookey/Nextra: Yeah, my passenger stations really need some attention :) As much fun I have with Penhall West, I got lazy and plunked down some default stations as placeholders for future expansion at Lewisborough/Trubridge. I really should start to use the NewStations grf. I would have liked to use the US stations grf but I get some graphical glitches with the large station.

@Ben_K: Can the Container Freight Station really be improved upon? That's one to look out for!

I sometimes get glitches with the US stations, i think there is a length or platform limit. Splitting the station in two usually fixes the problem.

Length is definitely an issue. Anything above 6 seems to cause problems. This also happens if the US stations grf is the only grf loaded.

By adding a section of length 1 to the station of length 6 three times this is what happens.

Does anyone see a problem with the sorting in the second image?
Attachments
1936: Lewisborough has not grown in size, despite it being supplied with mail, passengers, food and water. A second mail and passenger line to the town of Old Greabourne to the north east is opened in an attempt to get some growth.

That deadlock is the sort of thing PBS is good for - if that was a PBS junction, the food train would be able to go.

(Oh, it's OTTD  )

Nice screenshots. :)

My first guess would be that the profit numbers get updated more regularly than the sorting, so the train which apears out of order just made some profit and the sorting is only updated every x seconds

Making money of passengers and mail is a real pain. Towns have hardly grown, with Trubridge as an exception. An express line between Trubridge and Treedberg to the far south is set up, and is unique among the passenger lines in that it actually makes a profit :)
