US train set maintenance
Hey, I'm new to this forum and I'm sorry if this has been discussed before, but anyway:
The early engines of the US trainset are very powerful, but also very expensive and the truth is that the AI can't handle this. Even though the AI sucks, I still enjoy the feeling of having other transport comapanies around me. I tried the german trainset and it worked a lot better. Actually one of my opponents grew pretty powerful that time. I still want to use the US train set though. Is there any sollution to this problem?
Anyway, has anyone considered to slightly alter the AI to make it a bit more challanging? It could begin with more funds but no loans, didn't have to pay maintenance etc. It would be great if you needed a really good start to avoid being taken over by your opponents.

Perhaps off-topic, but if you like a better AI, why don't you try OpenTTD, if you haven't done so?
On topic: The devs probably made it expensive on purpose, to be more challenging.

Seeing as discussion has headed into OTTD matters, I felt the topic belonged here. If it gets vauge, or goes back to TTDP, someone feel free to bounce it back

Well, his initial query was about the US set. The OpennTTD came us a recommendation to help the 'problem'. It may be better elsewhere to help others who experience the same issue?Raichase wrote:Seeing as discussion has headed into OTTD matters, I felt the topic belonged here. Just a thought!

Is there any way I can change the year the new vehicles become available? For example, I want the 4-6-2 Pacific to be invented 1901, not 1920. Actually, I hope someone will include older engines to the US trainset like the Grasshopper. I remember that I got really exicited every time American, The-Wheeler and Pacific got invented in the original Railroad Tycoon. It would be awesome to experience the same feeling in TTD.
Ships should also be available earlier in the game.

You can if you know NFO.Bad_Brett wrote:Is there any way I can change the year the new vehicles become available?
If you don't, your best bet is to get over to the USSet thread in the TTDPatch graphics forum and put in your requests.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

Yes, I think so. We can discuss this issue over there. It's kind of moot ATM until either Oracle comes back, or we find a new coder for a new version.
