I'm learning German, Italian, Latin, and Ancient Greek at school (to GCSE - don't ask about the greek, it's so I can get out of doing Geography), can speak a moderate amount of French, am fluent in English, and am trying to learn Esperanto.
I'd love to learn Japanese and Spanish, and perhaps biblical Hebrew, but I haven't got the time at the moment.
For me the best language is Esperanto - the international auxiliary language - because it's so easy that anyone can learn it really quickly and easily. It's a great idea, but unfortunately, it never really caught on.
(not-so-)Proud speaker of French, Italian, German, Latin, Classical Greek and Esperanto...

English, and a bit of French (next year will see my third attempt to learn French).

My dream is to learn Hungarian, my "father" tongue. However, it is deemed the most difficult langauge to learn (by Foreign Service officers, atleast). As well, it is difficult to find somewhere to learn it properly - apart from in Hungary.

Spoken languages:

English - native
Cantonese (a dialect of Chinese) - parents came from Hong Kong
French, German, Latin (GCSE level)
Mandarin (basic)

Would like to learn:

Mandarin (more advanced)
Arabic - also a well-spoken language

The best language:

Cantonese - very little variation, only a relatively few people can speak it [nine different tones apparently - lol]

I can speak English fluently.
I can speak French passably.
I can speak a smattering of Norweigen, (I lived there for five years).

I lived for a few years in Italy as well, but I never learnt much of the language (all of which I've forgotten), which I now regret, :( , my father is fluent though.

I'm not sure what the best language is, but I don't think that it is English as it is difficult to avoid the endless inevitable pitfalls of grammar, spelling and pronunciation, and the English language is not as easy to learn as other languages.

I find it crazy how everyone here seems to be able to speak many languages. Kinda inbarising on my part as apart from 'english', I know how to count to 1 in german, and know about 20 french words, I would like to learn more, but I just suck too much.
