Political Influence

Post by SAC »

Now this may be a stupid idea, what do I know, but wouldn't it be kind of fun if there was some sort of political influences ruling the way transportation routes could be allowed in towns?

What I mean is, imagine one political governing in a city - or several - that prefer to have transportation on roads rather then on railroads, thus having less objections when trying to place bus stops or truck stops, but says no more often when trying to place railroad stations. And after a period of years, the political majority changes and the situation is kind of opposite; a green political majority that prefer to have most of the transportations carried out by railroads.

It would add yet another level of difficulties to the game as one is planning a network - which may even have to change once in awhile as the political majorities changes from one time to another!

Not even sure if it's possible to include such a feature in the patch, but in my opinion it would be fun! :P

Probably too much work.

TBH, I don't really like the idea. You can't put everything in the game. You shouldn't combine Transport Tycoon with SimCity-alike things, IMO.

Well, it'll never be a SimCity kind of game as they're two completely different games, one aiming towards transportation tasks, and the other towards city building. But the idea was more to add a difficulty level to the game that could - as a suggestion - lean towards a political aspect, as in most countries this has a meaning as far as infrastructure concerns. :P

But again, as noted, it could be a stupid idea! Further more not even worth the trouble of adding as a patch feature - if it's even possible at all!

I like it, I kinda like the idea of the town I'm mollesting with the terrain tool and track-laying to be intelligent with how it gets shirty at me :).

And the patch already provides for bribing local officials.
Now that's what I call realpolitic!

Yeah, and one can assume that bribing would become even more used while trying to get the network in one piece - of course always having the risk of getting caught around the corner! :P

Hi SAC

Thank you :!: I like it too. 8)
Political intrigue influencing where track goes or stations are built. It happened in Australia, and of course USA. Also England as well.

Extending the field of Bribes may be possible. Or even more favorable treatment by cities to players. My mind boggles.

And in Sweden! :P

Still, as none of the developers have commented on it, I assume this will happen once in a blue moon!
