Looks really good...Is there doors on the other side, cuase enterences are a key peice of architecture...vital to practicality
Have you got any scribble ups of your coal mine layout?, it would be interesting to see where this is going to be placed. Would be nice to have it almost built into the cliffface of the minesharf to its side, so it overlooks the whole operation.

I haven't made a door yet, because at first I didn't know how big it had to be and later on I was just too lazy

But I think the door will be on the north-east wall of the little building sticking out (the wall you can't see from here). It will have some concrete slaps around it and stairs and stuff.

Well, I could do that too, but this is not that kind of mine. This one has shafts going underground with elevators bringing the coal up. You see a lot of these mines in Germany and I think some in Great Brittain. The American style of coal mining is just digging a huge hole, but over here in Europe there isn't that much space to do that.Ben_Robbins_ wrote:Ment, 'big' hole.. spread over 2x2 tiles or something

a coal mine is like the original ottd suggests, with shafts going down into the ground, with big weels (well that is just old but who cares...)
for copper ore its about the same...
and ichi there are open mines with mega coal diggers (germany had i believe)....
anyway the gold mine could be like the coal and iron ore as well, since diamont is really deep down, so needs a elevator shaft as well....
if you need any reference pics, just ask for it in the blender.blend thread.....
if you need other stuff, PM me:-P

I will thanks! I could use some textures of brick walls and some concrete, if you have those?ZxBiohazardZx wrote:a coal mine is like the original ottd suggests, with shafts going down into the ground, with big weels (well that is just old but who cares...)

And I know there are open mines around, in Germany is a huge one, but those aren't really eye-candy, are they? They're just a big hole in the ground with some diggers inside.
I'd like for all the mines to look a bit different, so you can easily see which one it is you're looking at.

Might I suggest some kind of smoke stack? Though that may be associated more with the refinery than the mine itself, but mines do do a bit of refining before shipping the (relatively) raw product off to market. See: The Sudbury Basin nickle mines and their "super stack" (the tallest chimney I've ever seen!)
Though now that I think of it, that is probably a central processing facility for the mines spread out around the area. *scratches head*
