Nice, especially on the green one. You got to shade the roof at all versions, and don't forget the green | view.

I do not believe that anyone has done / is doing that, and if you would like to, I think it would be an enormous help! Getting all the existing sprites neatly placed in the Wiki, will make the set look like it's fairly well along, I think.

OK, I've just been through the old topic and put everything that looked vaguely like a sprite here: http://www.alanblanchflower.co.uk/brset/

The hope was to re-sort all the old sprites, get a tracking tabel set up, and see where we're at. But there doesn't seem to be the energy even for that. I hate to see this set die, though, we really need a full BR set....

Yeah, this set really is better than the other one going on. BR renewal set or something. I'm using the version 3.0 one, although there are problems with trains spontaneously changing livery its a good set.

The trains changing livery spontaneously is a feature ;).

My justification for it is that it's hardly like real life to buy a new train set just because you've decided your company has a new brand image as in the USSet/DBSet. I know many others think differently though - perhaps because the UK now has many many liveries one after another. If you look at what is currently Northern, there will have been many, many liveries even since the BR Set was first launched, and that's something we wanted to replicate in the BR Set.

The cost involved (ie cost of new train - selling price of old train = cost involved) is really the repainting cost...

Besides, it's the best method there is to repaint a train, as opposed to suddenly, in the space of a day, having you entire fleet re-painted to the new colour scheme.

Dunno how it's done in the UK, but in North America, Australia and parts of Europe, there is a good mix of liveries running around. Companies don't change overnight ;)

Yup, only the logos change.

There's still Network SouthEast-liveried trains running down in Kent, despite the fact that the service is into it's second owner since then.

Repainting/vinyls cost next to nothing compared to the cost of a new train. If you look at HSTs - 1976 introduction in Blue/Yellow, 1980s sometime go executive, late 1980s go Swallow, 1996 go GW green, 1998ish? go FGW fag packet, 1999/2000ish? go Barbie with white, 2001/2ish? go FGW purple all over. And that's one train staying on the same route - many may have had more livery variants than that, eg go to VXC then go to GNER then MML then MML Rio, then FGW, or back to GNER (thats in the space of 10years).

Also, for BRSet you end up needing to have persistent engines on so you can re-paint them. You'd never dream of buying a 40/50 year old design EMU from new - but in TTD people might end up doing that because it will be cheaper than replacing with the modern stock that replaced them IRL.

I like the BR Set because you don't have to re-buy them the whole time - plus it's not likely to change any time soon as everyone's given up on the set!

[repainting - when?]

Then why don´t you repaint trains when they´re serviced the first time after a livery change? Would be more "realistic" than having them repainted en route.
