Cannot seem to find an answer in the forums so I guess I will have to ask. I have bought a ship and refitted it for fish but I cannot seem to get it to sail out to the fishing ground to pickup fish. Do you have to build something near by and have it sail there to load or do you just click of the fishing ground and thats it?

A fishing ground, is not a station, and therefore not a valid destination. You have to build a buoy at the fishing ground so the ship has a destination to go to. I think you may have to build it in a special way - Ctrl-click maybe?

Yes, you'll need Ctrl-clicking to build a special buoy where ships can actually load and unload instead of just running through it.

Still having issues with fishing. I tried to build a special buoy by pressing and holding the control key and nothing changed. Is there another set or something else I have to turn on prior to loading TTD

Do you have morebuildoptions.enhancedbuoys on?

(The newcargos grf ought to check for that, IMO, but may not. /me will check soon.)
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

Are you placing the curser very close to the fish before doing ctrl+click?
Sometimes you have to try each tile around the fish.
If the name of the bouy is in your company colour, it means you were successful in placing a station bouy and you can send a ship to it to pick up a load of fish.
Remember that on its first trip, there will be no fish waiting and you will either need to send the ship for another load or set the ship to "full load" so that it will wait for the fish.

Pressing the CTRL key does nothing for the buoy no matter where I build it. Just wondering if there is a special station set that I need to install first in order to change the buoy to allow fishing.

Holding CTRL while building the buoy doesn't change the appearance of the bouy.
It just makes the buoy your property, just like any station.
You can see this at the bouys name, it is in your companys colour, and not plain grey.
If your company colour is grey on the other hand, you''l see no difference. :P

No it doesn't change from gray. I have tried sending a ship out to and it will not load. I guess I will have to keep playing with it until it works.

How many tiles away from the fish are you placing the bouy?
Also, what is your company colour?

When you CTRL build a bouy it allways changes to company colour, even if you build it in the middle of nowhere.
If this isn't working then he has not set : "morebuildoptions.enhancedbuoys on" in ttdpatch.cfg.

Yes, I forgot about enhancedbuoys and that definitely would explain no company colours

I am using TTDX Configurator 2.6.5 with TTDPatch 2.0.1 alpha 58. I don't see the "morebuildoptions.enhancedbuoys on" option listed. My company color is blue. Is there a readme file yet to maybe help me through these troubling times?

Just open ttdpatch.cfg with notepad, and add this line at the end.

Code: Select all

morebuildoptions.enhancedbuoys on

TTDXC is not keeping up to date with all the new betas, and unfortunately it seems you can't add this switch in the "Additional Switches" tab.

Follow the suggestion to open ttdpatch.cfg in Notepad and add the line manually. As long as you don't run TTDXC the line will stay there.

It's not that difficult to edit the config file manually (the documentation is quite thorough), and you will *know* what switches you actually have set.

Maybe if you use an = instead of a space?

mods: is it possible to have this discussion regarding troubleshooting with MB's fishery split into a new thread as it has nothing to do with North American Industries?

Thanks. :D

You wanted to say: "is it possible to have this discussion regarding a case of illiteracy and wrong choice of utility programs split into a new thread [...]".
