idea for monorails

idea for monorails
would it be possible to move monorails to the edge of the tile and raise them so that in cities they can run along a road my other idea was to be able to intergate monorail stations into ordinayy builgings my idea about making the station s produce and accept passengers mail and goods is to have the station a seperate graphic bu when you build the station it builds the rest of the building

Have you ever heard of periods and commas
Anyways, IIUC, you can change the monorail sprites to have raise them. But you can't have different height levels, you cannot build them above roads (only cross them as you can do now) and you cannot have seperate station sprites (so the stations will still be at ground level), AFAIK.

Yes, i agree with Purno, if you would like an answer to a question, at least write in a form understandable by the majority here ie GOOD english.

I'll give it to you - it's a good idea, it really is. After reading your post a couple of times, I really like your idea. Thats how we have it in Sydney at least.
However, it just isn't possible. TT can only have one type of "transport method" (I can't think of a better term than that I'm sorry) on a sqaure. Thus, you could raise the Monorail, which would be a fair chunk of work, but it wouldn't be buildable over a road like you have suggested. Ditto for the stations - you could draw a building around them, but it would just be a fancy looking station.
Also, remember that there are people here speaking English as a second, third, fourth or even fifth language, so unless you write with punctuation and decent grammer (doesn't have to be perfect, as long as it stands up.), they won't be able to understand you, and may interpret your idea wrong and dismiss it!

<This would take some heavy drawing and perfaps some impossible coding but here's my two bits worth:>
Coding:
- As it is now a track can cross above a road via a bridge.
- Is it possible to code so that a bridge runs along the length of the road tile?
- Bridges need to be anchored on their own tile, ie. no road, so a long bridge anchored after both ends of a stretch of road could then be used. Think along this line ... Currently, a tunnel can be built under a length of road as long as the portals don't occupy a road tile. Yes, I know the portals need to be on a slope, but the bridge abutments are already able to rise above a surface without requiring a slope.
Graphics:
- Except for the bus stops, a station can't use the same tile as a road, so stations would have to be built adjacent to a road tile, or between abutments of consecutive bridge runs.
- The bridge graphics could be drawn to look like monorail structures. The road would show through transparent sections. We see this now with some of the newer bridges.
- The hard drawing part - The graphic of the rail is offset to the edge of the bridge tile - it would be an illusion - the track still runs down the center of the tile.
- Even harder drawing part - The vehicle sprites would have to be similarly offset so we again have the same illusion - the vehicle still runs along the center of the tile.
Impossible Stuff?
- Once the track starts along the road, I don't think it would be possible to have the track curve off the line of the road to run along a perpendicular road. For this to work, someone would have to figure out how to build a bridge abuting perpendicular directly to another bridge. (Think "T")

I wondered something like that before.Arathorn wrote:Raising the monorail has already been attempted a long time ago. The problem was that you can't force trains off-centre I believe.
There is one way to get a lifed monorail, but still keeping the trains in the centre.
put the pillars for raising the track right at the edge (bottom left side), and then... the track will stay in the middle, but 'Appear' to be raised

Its the same sort of thing i tried experimenting with an underground station. Almost using the same princible!

I think that's what I was saying above and to be honestGeo.c Ghost wrote:I wondered something like that before.Arathorn wrote:Raising the monorail has already been attempted a long time ago. The problem was that you can't force trains off-centre I believe.
