Yeah, thats how they were layed out in Corneliuses first mock-up of them, and it also makes them look less flat.

And Astath, Krtaylor, I cant reproduce those errors you are getting, Ill try again, but this is really starting to bug me. My copy on my computer is 99% glitch free, I have no idea why you people are getting errors when I cant even reproduce them.

What I need is the EXACT station, Dual sided basic platforms is NOT very specific. That sprite error that you are getting Astath can be fixed VERY quickly, but I need the exact station that you were using.

Plus anyway, I uploaded a new test .grf anyways:
http://www.bur.st/~aegir/projects/

And to clarify, these are UNSTABLE, they are not releases, and hell, I wasnt even planning on giving support for them. When I make a .grf thats ready for release, Ill let you know.

I'm not releasing these versions. I haven't updated the files on the distribution site since your last "official release."

However, we who are in the project do use your newer versions, when you tell us you've posted a new one, because somebody's got to test them.

I just downloaded and tested your latest one, and the both-sides-platform bug is fixed. Whatever you did, took care of it.

I do have one fairly strong suggestion though. Whether or not we publicly release a paticular version, I do think it is useful to give it a version number, even if it's heavily decimalized (0.8.3, 0.8.4, 0.8.5, etc.) That way when we're testing it and report a bug, we can tell you exactly which build we were using.

Good good.

They werent specifically made for bugfixing and testing, I put those versions up there to keep people happy while I work on a release that may be anywhere up to a month away. But if you want to test and give bug-reports, knock yourself out.

Yeah, there was a bug in GRFMaker 2.04b/c that produced the occasional screwy grf, but the new version Im using remedies that.

Thats not particularly neccessary, I test these .grfs extensivly, and I quite frequently fix a bug not long after posting a test .grf, but still, maybe a dated system would be best, just bear in mind, that I wont keep old versions floating around, if I cant reproduce the error in a later version (Of mine), its most likely because it was a silly little error that I've fixed.

But still, thanks for the feedback.

My PCX of them has a proper dark edge rather than a green one. Do you want me to PM it to you for an update?

I want to re-do my suburban stations since they were the first TTD graphics I ever did and I think they could be improved a lot. I'll use those canopies I posted the other day as a base.

Knock yourself out, your work always ends up looking good. But, the one thing I liked the most was that they fit in with Arte-Pro's city stations really well, could you preserve this still if possible?

And on the basic platforms, Yes please.

Yeah, its shortened down to 'pgs' around the forums, but I commonly refer to it as pigs on IRC or in just idle chatter.

Indeed, I fixed many a thing on those sprites, First I split them, then I had to fix the stations that were drawn behind (had to copy a bit of the bare platforms onto them) then I had to move a pesky pole...

All in all they came out well, but I do agree, the roof needs work.

Well, I havent done much on PGS lately, I mean, I still have heaps of sprites to code, but I've been busy lately, and I've also been going through some concepts for *another* construction style, after the recent advancements of a47.

Well, Ill comb back through threads later and look for stuff to code, but for now, well, just wait a bit :P .

Hmmm, Im starting to work over some new ideas for PGS, this rather random style of "post any old station sprites and I'll code 'em" has worked rather well, but its getting to a point where we have lots of basic station graphics, but not much in the way of depth for them.

So, what I am proposing, is that we take the big four styles for stations (Three of which are coded, or atleast partially) and develop them to produce some of the depth and complexity that MB has produced. No, I dont propose 15-16 different variations, no no, but well, Ill explain.
Plan
The Arte-Pro/Cornelius Suburban/City style:
Image
Image

Good, Ill need though, a version of the platforms with no wall, and also maybe a benched version.

The Astath Country style:
Image

Also good, need some overpasses, shelters, benches, and a version of the platform with no hedge along the side.

The Born Acorn City/Suburban/Freight Style:
Image
Image
Image

Need some basic shelters for the passenger stations, an overpass (Or under-pass) and maybe some benches.

The Singapore Kid Dutch Style:
Image
Image

Need an overpass, and also a version of the city stations with the roofs starting at the same height as the suburban dutch stations so that they sit side-by-side nicely.
Just because your work isnt on this page, doesnt mean it hasnt made 'the cut', but for now I want to develop these four styles up more and produce some MB style kick-ass-ish-ness.

For ideas of features to add to stations, look at the type of thing Michael has added, also, delving into a bit of freight/goods wouldnt hurt to badly.

Now, on the coding front, Im thinking very seriously about re-coding the entire .grf. No-where near as much work as it seems, as I have all the rel values and such, which is most of the work in the first place. Also, due to new knowledge, I can code layouts much more effectivly.

I am also not going to stick stations in a class by their function, ie: generic station, generic platform, basic platform, goods, etc... Each style will feature their own station class (About four, roughly the same as last) and will feature all their own accessories in the similar style.

Now, for my reasons, this current method of just spitting up basic, although very nice, graphics is good, and has worked rather well, MB's stations undoubtable beat us in the flexibility area. Just gotta look at the type of stations you see people building with them. Overpasses, underpasses, little plant-pots, billboards, the works. Whereas we just have a whole heap of basic stations in different styles. I say we keep the heap of styles, but start to bring the level of depth into it aswell. From an non-artists point of view, I dont think it should be too hard, designing accessories shouldnt be too much more diffcult.

I really appreciate all the sprites that have been drawn lately, they're fantastic, but a little more co-ordination would rock right now, we have a fantastic set of sprites already, and with a little more work (And a s*** load of work on my part) we can start to threaten MB's strangle hold on the stations front :D .

Now, if you'll exscuse me, Im going to go perve on MB's stations some more...
