We got something like the bendibus here, expect slight diffrences, but i'd hope to see bendi-buses in locomotion, the normal locomotion buses just don't cut all the required passenger output.

A few questions about bendibuses...

1) Where's the engine? We had them in Toronto on a few (very far out) routes so I presume if they're going to be low floor, they must have the engine in the back but which set of wheels are powered? The rear main ones or the trailer's ones?

2) Anyone have a picture of the ones they're getting in Cardiff? Cardiff Bus's own website doesn't acknowledge the one test vehicle they have, or the £18mil they're going to spend to get a bunch (and I think this will mean the end of the remaining, utterly mank Aisla doubledeckers)

3) What's the maximum angle it can bend at?

I know, this was just a test to make sure, it would a possible. Changing the second sprite to something different is no big deal. :D

Yeah, that's the double articulated bus setup. I don't know if I will go that far, they are not very common and rather used only on special routes where the roads aren't so difficult.
Btw, here in cologne they are driving the bendibusses through all that narrow alleys. Alll with an incredible speed. It's a real roller coaster ride ^_^

There are two differen setups. The old Ikarus Bus I posted has the Engine beneath the floor which is incredibly loud and you have to climb two steps to get in. This Bus is propelled on the middle wheels

The Modern Bendibusses (like the Mercedes Citiaro) have their Engine on the back and the back wheels are powered, pushing the whole thing froward. This allows a low floor construction but the middle section has to be reoinforced with hydraulics.

Depends on the Bus. I read somewhere, that a 18m long Bendibus had a truning radius of 12m.

Does the bendy tram we have as a standard vehicle give any clues ?
It was awsomly profitable in mixing muscle scenario.

As far as know is that the trams are a some kind of roadvehicles in Locomotion, so with the right bit settings it could be possible to make a multie unit roedvehickle (Roadtrains for example)

So maybe someone has to try to make the tram to work on roads instead of tramstracks.

IllegalAlien: The tanker truck has an optional trailer. So the game can do this with road vehicles already.

Krystman: Interesting, thanks for that. I don't agree with the Wikipedia's claim that 'double decker buses won't fit under tram wires'. What nonsense. London had double decker trolley buses, and Toronto has double deck tour buses that operate in the city, they couldn't possibly drive downtown without passing through at least one street with the wires.

but the trams don't have diffrent graphic for the rear-end..
so the second part probably will have to be a trailer.

intercity125 wrote:The Bendibus is AWFUL in reality, but would be a good addition to the game i think. In London, i know it is just a terrible idea when they keep adding them everywhere. I had to laugh when they kept setting on fire when first introduced.
LOL, yeah. Maybe someone can do some animation of some flames engulfing the bus whenever it breaks down in the game!

This is an example how a bendibus might be created in Locomotion. It's just a 36R bus with integrated trailer. The integrated trailer uses the same graphics as the 36R bus but for making a bendi bus, graphics should be changed.

The bus as it is may be used for a bus with trailer which was common in Central Europe until late 50's and is still used in Switzerland until now.

That's awesome!
So this should be quite easy to accomplish then, I mean the bendy busses. Is more than one trailer possible?
