Re: I just can't read.
There is nice way to fix forums: addon Stylus with (if it uploaded correctly) theme fo these forums
It theme didn't upload correctly, theme is attached
It's not well made, very raw fix replacing two colors, there should be way to just override 2 colors on the site with two lines instead of replacing whole css, but I didn't dig it
Preview of how it will look after fix:

Re: I just can't read.
I want to bring attention to this old topic, because the problem hasn't gone away (and I guess my eyes aren't getting better with age).
These days I happen to use two different computers interchangeably. One of them is a Macbook with an excellent screen; on this screen I can read the yellow text on grey background without any difficulty. The other one is an Acer laptop with a cheap screen; on this screen the yellow text is barely readable regardless of the font size.
For the record, the colour of background is #848484, and the colour of links is #fcc000. An online tool for contrast checking says that these colours are not suitable to use with each other.
By the way, in OpenTTD the yellow text always has a black shadow effect. This massively improves the readability, even for small font sizes.

Re: I just can't read.
Playing with this site, the only combination that gets a pass in all three fields is by having a dark background with white text and dark-grey links, the latter which IMO looks even more unreadable. There is not a distinctive link color which passes this test.

Re: I just can't read.
While you will lose the custom TT-Forums theme, you can switch to the "proSilver" theme in the Board preferences section of the UCP, which you may find more readable.
Re: I just can't read.
Well, I really like the custom theme, and I would rather stay with it even despite the contrast problem. However, the fix is really, really easy. Could you just try and add this piece to the stylesheet?
Code: Select all
a { text-shadow: 0.05em 0.05em #000000; }

Personally, that looks less legible.odisseus wrote: ↑21 May 2024 10:56 Well, I really like the custom theme, and I would rather stay with it even despite the contrast problem. However, the fix is really, really easy. Could you just try and add this piece to the stylesheet?Code: Select all

Re: I just can't read.
I'm not sure if this is a new thing caused by stuff in here, but i guess I'll say it here as its template related, and you can maybe fix it in your test forum.
When you are viewing your (or any) profile, the subtitle is black rather than the orangey yellow the rest of the text is.

Seems like this would be a good addition for Stylish or Tapermonkey.odisseus wrote: ↑21 May 2024 10:56 Well, I really like the custom theme, and I would rather stay with it even despite the contrast problem. You know, a fun prank would be taking your logo and going into the admin portal to change the direction. Re: I just can't read.
Thanks, it's only been there for 5 years or so, but it should finally be fixed (along with a few other similar instances). Though now it looks really bright and white to my eyes!Redirect Left wrote: ↑21 May 2024 23:02 I'm not sure if this is a new thing caused by stuff in here, but i guess I'll say it here as its template related, and you can maybe fix it in your test forum.

Re: I just can't read.
To be fair i had just assumed it was meant to be the same yellow as topic headers lol I guess not, weird choice by phpBB to have that a different colororudge wrote: ↑23 May 2024 09:40Thanks, it's only been there for 5 years or so, but it should finally be fixed (along with a few other similar instances).
