I am not realy sure, but didnt the water for dam ones have coastal pieces that "float" 2 slopes high above them in all slope directions?
Again, not sure about it, just mentioning it because the menu now looks different from the screenshot I made earlier:
The coastal pieces will work if placed on slopes like in this image. But I too think I did some that floated but got no idea what happened to them. (They seem to have floated away  ).

I will make a new set so can have those like in this image and also a floating set so water can be same height as top of slopes.

Subject: Fixed Dam water shore line and finally coded the culvert for the drains.

Can now make shore line with the top of the slopes as shown in these images. The images also show the culvert for the drains.
This image shows the different depth of the valley area.

The num_views for the shore line 2, 3 and 4 are not finished. View 2, I did shore line 2 slopes high and discovered they are not needed. Views 3 and 4 are the same as those in "Water for Dams" which are designed to go on slopes.

Views 2, 3 and 4 I hope to make different shore line types such as the ones used for lakes and rivers.

See if I can make them awesome more. :D

These only suitable for the top of the slopes where the land levels out. These are not suitable want to use them with slopes above the water lines.

4 choices of sandy shores. The 2nd from left I removed one layer of the waves to see how the idea looks as I think dams would have less waves as that of a ocean. If players like I will remove 1 layer from the over 3.

3 choices of dirt shores and 1 rock shore. The far left has normal waves, 2nd no waves, 3rd smaller waves and 4th is rocky shore line and smaller waves.

My idea for all these verions of shore lines is you can mix them. You might have a dam with just a small sandy area and rest dirt and rocks.

Once I get these working to every ones like will see if can make some for suitable for slopes above the water line.

The game file Version 20 in next post.

AuzCreekandDrainObjectV20 Source

Here the source to where I up to with this project.

Some of the things still to be done:
* Drains with less water.
* Shores that can be placed on sloped areas that has slopes above the water line.
* Been trying to make a curved dam wall. Had several goes over the years but so far no good. Biggest problem how many tiles wide should it be. Need to be at least 3 but 5 might look nicer. Shall try again with it later.
* The boats for the dam need to adjust so can be placed on water 2 slopes high.

AuzCreekAndDrainObjectsV20
Subject: Fixed Dam Water shore lines.

Been working on shore lines that can go on sloped areas like in this image.
Sloped shore lines.png
Sloped shore lines.png (36.12 KiB) Viewed 23950 times
With all the different shore lines I like to remove the sand from these so they can then be used with any shore line or maybe make a new set.
Shore line objects.png
Shore line objects.png (11.89 KiB) Viewed 23950 times
With the new shore lines I making I might not need these circles in red. Maybe I could replace these with rocks or some other item.
Object Select.png
Object Select.png (55.67 KiB) Viewed 23950 times
The last 4 in the menu .. 2 are shore lines where top of slope needs to be flat (level). The last 2 for slopped shores as shone in the 1st image above.

Hope to work on these ideas today.

Cheers

AuzCreekAndDrainObjectsV21
Subject: Fixed Dam Water shore lines.

I think I got it all working proper.
ChangeLog:
* Added shores for 1 and 2 slopes high.
* Shores have 8 different shore types, sand, beach, dirt and rocks.
* Added shore objects that can be placed with any shore piece on slope or flat ground as seen in this image.

Been working on Dam Walls on a angle to make them look curved. This progress at moment, but maybe the angle is wrong. Also need to design the slope pieces. Might get another chance next weekend to look at these again.

Going to be busy next 3 days with train riding, shopping and a medical appointment. So Friday next chance for any more coding.

Heres the "Auz Creeks and Drain Objects V21" game file.

Is there a difference between the 1-slope and 2-slope high shores?
They look the same to me...

EDIT:
Also, what is the exact use of the 2-slope high shores?

The reason is because of the last 4 tile types like in this image.
Slopes.png
Slopes.png (3.52 KiB) Viewed 23850 times
When build on these type of slopes. I tried other ways to build these but none worked.
So I made the 1-slope and 2-slope high shores.
Building the shores on other slopes no problem. It just those 4 I was unsuccessful with.
If some one like to try here the source.
The files concerned are damwaterShore, damwaterShore2, damwaterShore3 and damwaterShore4.

Aahh, I see, they are indeed different on the steep slopes, good to know ;-)
However, I think you need to switch the menugraphics around.
The ones that say 1 high, are the highest (so 2 slopes) and the ones that say 2 high are lower (1 slope) on the steep slopes.

I got it to work  .. maybe a good night sleep helped  .

Have you every coded something, converted it to the .Grf but forgot to copy this over to the newgrf folder. Worse when give it a new version number and forget to change them NewGRF Settings. When you test it can't don't realize your testing the old version still so not able to figure out why the changes you made don't work ?( .

Wasn't till this morning I realize I made those mistakes  . So only need the 1 set of sand shore line and 1 set for the dirt and rocks and it works at any level.

But not got time to make new game file today as I getting ready to go train riding. A train called the Indian Pacific will be passing a railway station near me today. That train normally travels between Sydney and Perth. But for the next few months it be also running Adelaide to Brisbane.

Might get chance tomorrow before I go shopping to fix the problem and remove "damwaterShore3 and damwaterShore4".

Cheers

When I got home this evening from my train rides I had a go at the narrow drains with just a small amount of water.
But I not real happy with the as think the side walls are too high and maybe water a bit thinner.

It looks good! i love it when there are retaining walls at high angles, such as the retaining walls in dutch road furniture. I reckon some uniquely shapes walls could look nice in your set. :D

These photos might give a idea what my plans have been for a long time. I like to make narrower storm drains and merge them into the wider ones I did. Also add pedestrian path ways across them.
The photo with drains merging is from Google Earth at a location in Newcastle, NSW, Australia.

Had a fiddle with the narrow drains this evening and hope these might do.

The idea is 2 drains join the wide drains something like in the photos in last post above.
I can get 2 to fit, just need to bend one of the to left or right and curve the other so it will end up in middle of tile.

Tomorrow I be staying home to work on these and Friday I go train riding for the day.
Need to now sleep on these ideas.

Good night

AuzCreekAndDrainObjectsV22
Subject: Fixed the shore tiles.

Previous I had 4 sets of dam shores. 2 for sandy shores and 2 for dirt and Rock shores.

Discovered a mistake I made in coding and only 1 each are required. Hope these make it a lot easier to make the dam shores so much easier.

Still working on the drains and creeks. Maybe next week I get them finished. This weekend the weather here will be a scorcher 39 degrees so most like not be doing much on computer. IF I do any coding at all it will be for the AuzTrain sets.

I see that you don't know which one of your projects is more important  I have a new idea 4 u

In many European cities there are old brdiges like Prague's Charles Bridge which is intended only for pedestrians.

As you did very nice old looked bridges, you could use them and create eyecandy versions of them. With people, markets, towers ... Just an idea ;)

Good idea! There should also be a version with eyecandy arches that can be driven on as well
