I also don't see anything wrong with it, it does look a bit different in OpenGFX however, no beach line visible there.

I prefer it as it is :-)

If it was less angular/smooth it would look far better though. It looks like it's made of plastic to me just now, which isn't ideal :P

I haven't decided the best way to do the foundations. Without some very clever tricks there is a choice between 3D looking walls, or flat walls with a few glitches...

I think the second version looks a lot more buggy, the first one makes it clear that there is the shore while the second one looks like it is missing there.

Hi all!

The finger is back in action and the thesis is handed in! Time for some drawing. I have already committed a few more arctic town sprites.

FWIW I think that is all temperate, arctic and tropic town buildings and industries complete... If I am right then this leaves just vehicles (train engines, monolev engines and carriages, planes and boats) and toyland to go.

Now, that's good news, Zephyris and I'm really looking forward to getting a first complete version of this set done.

While I do believe that the grass tiles and coasts are much too smooth and / or straight (something which can be solved rather easily when looking at it technically) , I really like the general look of this set a lot thus that it became the most-used base set for me already :-) And it's something to care about when we have 100% done. (And it might be additional motivation as I hope to find time and passion to get a bit aquainted with blender myself)

Hey Zephyris, great to see more progress from you on this set. I have to say though that I think that "Arc_Hotel.png" looks strange. Maybe it's the dual-roof that goes across (top-left to bottom-right), or the combination of flat-roof and traditional roof? The tiny flat-roof-area bottom left, the overhangs? Maybe the combination of it all?
I can't pinpoint the reason, but I think that it does not look like a realistic building overall. If your time allows it, you should maybe revisit this building and change some things, in my opinion.

<Lakie> Well, they do the same thing but the code is different.

It looks rather odd to me, too :P . Possibly because there's no apparent structural support on the overhanging areas, just masonry suspended in mid-air? That wouldn't work...

Mmm, I realise that is one building that looks a little implausible. TBH architectural plausibility is fairly low on my priority list at the moment; lots of sprites still to draw!

Hi all!

I have made some pretty good progress. It would be really handy if people could help me spot missing sprites (i.e. ones that still appear as 8bpp). You can download the latest builds here.
