Tropicset [Final]
Moderator: Graphics Moderators
NOTE: It is possible for the tropicset and DB set to coexist. The DB set deactivates itself if you are in any environment other than Temperate. Can the tropicset be made to do the same - deactivate in anything other than Tropic?

Great. So then in other words, you can have both DB and Tropicset in your newgrfw.cfg file at the same time, and you'll only get the right one at the right time.

Logical, but not inevitable...
Anyway, it seems to be working, I just tried it.

I have to say I just love watching the Garratt plow through the desert. What a cool loco.
I installed the new version over the old version and had no trouble playing existing games, except that the condensing tender never showed up so I couldn't use the loco that requires it. Oh well.
I still think the new waterwagon should become part of this set.

Wierd. It works OK here :/I installed the new version over the old version and had no trouble playing existing games, except that the condensing tender never showed up so I couldn't use the loco that requires it. Oh well.
Maybe, someday ^^I still think the new waterwagon should become part of this set.
I tried doing "cht:resetvehicles", which added the Jinty tank that I hadn't had before, but still no conderser tender. A new game started fresh had it. Humph. Oh well, the game I had is going well and it's hard to get a Tropic game off the ground.
One thing I noticed about the tropic set, the cities start very small and stay that way. Is it not possible to grow them, even with the Patch set to grow one out of every two cities?

It seems that the latest server crash lost the last month's worth of messages.
In that month, was the first non-beta release of the Tropic vehicles. I see that's been lost, so I'm posting it now, here. Sorry I only have the Windows version. I am NOT claiming these great set as my own, I had nothing to do with it, I'm simply trying to put back what was here before the crash.
Also, I'm attaching a waterwagon set from Dinges' site, which works very well with the tropic set, and which ideally I'd like to see become part of it sometime.

OK. Now that the first release version of the Tropicset is back posted again, let's talk about ideas for Rev 2.0. Here's what I'd like to see:
1. Matching passenger/mail cars for a couple of the trains. I'm not familiar with what there might be in reality, but I'm sure some of the locos are really passenger locos and that there's a livery that goes with them.
2. Maybe an improved oil-tanker traincar? Maybe black with a stripe of the company color, and a little dome on top - and some rust streaks perhaps?
Any other thoughts?

The very last posting from uzurpator before the Forums died, was, that he would be honored if you included it in the "official" collection. As you see, I put the most recent Windows version back, but I don't have the DOS one I'm afraid. When he sees the forums are up I'm sure he'll restore it, or maybe someone else has it and can post it?

OK, the tropic set is now part of the official TTDPatch New Graphics. You can also download it from the TTDPatch New Graphics page, or the all(w).zip from the main page.

Could LongVehicles set be the part of the official TTDPatch New Graphics too?Patchman wrote:OK, the tropic set is now part of the official TTDPatch New Graphics. You can also download it from the TTDPatch New Graphics page, or the all(w).zip from the main page.
Has anyone noticed that the smoke coming out of diesels is the smoke of the steam engines and vice versa if you don't use the ResetVehicles and AllVehicles cheats? And the old engines then still do the same. Below:
