To get a varied set of competitors, which ones do you recommend I use?

In my current game (that I for a change also play as human and not only watch the AIs) I have:
  • CluelessPlus
  • AdmiralAI
  • Convoy
  • AIAI
  • NoCAB
  • Denver & Rio Granade
  • DustinAI
  • OtviAI
If you have a NewGRF with helicopters earlier than usual or start later than standard (1950), you might want to add Chopper which will make use of helicopters.

These are not a full list of good AIs. I for example miss SimpleAI, it is just my last selection of AIs for a game. Selecting 14 AIs in a game is usually just too many. 2-6 is probably a better number.
My OpenTTD contributions (AIs, Game Scripts, patches, OpenTTD Auto Updater, and some sprites)
Junctioneer (a traffic intersection simulator)

Shamelessly plugging my own AI, ChooChoo, but I think it has a style different enough from other AIs that you might want to consider it.

Haha, I know what you mean. I also just tend to watch the AIs build stuff these days :D

*yawn*

This gets asked every so often. And the answer is always the same: it depends. And it changes. Try a few. Use the search function to get the extensive answer I wrote last week.
