Problem with TTDX Configurator [edited with new problem]

Post by Ajy »

I have just noticed another problem with TTDXC.

I first thought everything was working fine, but i notced that the new error, that pops up when you click ether save and exit or save and run.

This problem stops it from saving the changes i made to the cfg file.

I hope you can do something about this, if not, could you give me aversion of TTDXC from before patch 2.0 as well as the last Aplha from 1.9 was it? Becasue that worked fine.

This problem hapens both on my Win ME and Win 95 computers.

Doesn't it need Windows 2000 or XP to work?

No, I think it's just that the VB files are already included in 2000 and XP but not other OSes.
We need Andrex to answer this but he hasn't been around much recently.

I have downloaded the files needed to run it and put them into the system folder.
My friend who also uses Win 98, doesn't have this problem, so it can't be that since they are basicaly the same in design.

No, the VB runtimes are installed on that machine, otherwise it'd say it couldn't find MSVBVM60.DLL.

Ajy, try now with TTDXC 1.78 and tell me if the error still appears (I doubt it).

In case it still occurs, TTDXC will show a different message and ignore the error to keep runing. Thanks to the "On Error Resume Next" miracle! :D

Below is the new type of error that would show up when error occurs in protected features. Despite it's critical appearance, TTDXC will mostly don't crash with them. :P

Yeah it works now, thanks a lot :D

But the error you described does come up, but only when you click "save and exit". Other then that it works fine.

I pop up a dialog with Abort, Retry and Ignore. Usually, if you click Ignore, the program stops working properly (eg, it doesn't respond to events). Not always, though.

Alternatively, you could actually try to fix the error. MS does provide documentation on its errors, and on VB (though not as much as some night like)
Bugzilla available for use - PM for details.

Funnily enough, where I can, I do. :P But if an error does occur, then that's what happens.

That doesn't mean that I leave errors when I release my programs... I tested all features under both Windows 95, 98 and XP I didn't have a single error message.

Well i still keep getting them. On my Windows ME and Windows 95 computers. I went over to a friends to try on his Windows 98 computer and i got the same problem. It works until you go "Save and Exit" or "Save and Run".

In the mean time, if possible, could you please give me a ttdpatch.cfg with all the recommened settings on except for the following:
Error popup time
Save optional data
build on slopes
build on coast
More currencies
move error messages
All the new graphics off, i don't want them

Open the file, look at the switches and descriptions (It may help to have the manual open in another window at the same time to get more info.)
All of the switches you want off just write 'off' after the switch name, eg
buildoncoasts off
