Project Help a Newb: When a rail network gets busy

Post by Goobertron »

The screenshot below shows a traffic jam at one of my stations as I think i now have too many trains running on the same line(s). As a newb i'm not sure what i should do about this. If the answer is to build a second line i'm not entirely sure how that should be designed and how complicated the signal system would have to be. I still struggle with basic signal setup like the one in my screenshot.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks

I don't see a traffic jam. What you have there is just a train entering a station while another one waits...

The following screenshot allows trains to simultaneously enter the block, which is efficient (I think this is the solution to your problem).

You can add a penalty right before the combo signal to make trains use the line farthest to the north first, like so.

It is not a GRF, these are 32 bit graphics http://www.tt-forums.net/viewforum.php?f=36.
