SPLIT - Vehicle Creationg issues

Post by Nukeman »

Hi! I tried to create add-ons with VC, but no luck, trains have the clipping issue. I tried LocoTSGfx, but still, the clipping issue persists. All the trains I saw were perfect, they ran perfect, no clipping. How do you guys make trains without having to deal with clipping ?

Dude, please don't dig up old topics. I have absolutely no idea why you thought your post relevant to that topic in any case.

Sorry about that, I didn't saw it was 4 years old, sorry again. But the post is relevant, it is about an issue I encounter while trying to create vehicles with LocoTSGfx. I didn't saw anyone asking, on that topic, why does clipping appear. I think it's the third time I ask this on different topics, but everyone seems to ignore me, although it may be a problem wich many people encounter. I only found one topic in wich clipping was discused, and I saw some solutions, related to the bogeys positions, but I tried all sorts of combinations and nothing worked. I'm running out of ideas on how to stop clipping from apearing, that's why I ask here for help. I also found another probable solution, but I don't know how to realise it. It's about shortening the length of Locomotion sprites. But I don't know how to do that or what programs to use, but clipping doesn't apear only at long vehicles, but also at short ones. I hoped you guys could help me, but it seems nobody wants to help me.

1. Dont use a program from the stoneage
2. Clipping stuff has been discussed over and over again.
3. Clipping will be there forever, it isnt possible to remove it completely.
4. Shortening trains have been explained 100dreds of times either.
5. Bogey pos should fix most of it.

(Most of the time people will help if you show that you have tried things, giving us examples, code etc etc.)

Well, I haven't found any other programs than Vehicle Creator and LosoTSGfx. There are more ?
I'm not very good at english so I'll try to explain as I can. In VC, I splited the number at bogeypos field by 2 and entered at field_0 and field_1 that value minus 5. For example bogeypos 120:2=60, and at field_1 and field_0 I put 55 or 50. I tried with very many values. I know that clipping will be there, but I don't want it to be so visible, at custom add-ons the clipping is almost inexistent. One question, will shortening the trains have any effect on clipping ?

Short answer on shorter trains: YES.

Thank you. But what about locomotives wich aren't long but still have serious clipping issues ? Can height be also a cause of clipping ? I'll try to lower and shorten the vehicles and see what happens.

And just to be sure, what are the most used programs to create add-ons ? VC and LocoTSGfx ?

That clipping is pretty much normal I'm afraid.

In terms of what program to use you need to find a program called Shape File Manager which allows you to change all 3 axis' in the MSTS model. Make sure you have the updated VC, which you should be able to get across at locofanpage.

Well, I have VC 0.08, but how do you guys make models that look so good ? They aren't edgy and all the details are visible. Mine don't look like that even if I enable anti-aliasing.

Look at the difference mine, the grey and blue one is all edgy and the DB one is very smooth.
