Installing Patchs.
Right
I have searched everywhere and i can't seem to find a good experation of how to install patch files onto open ttd.
I downloaded a couple and i just don't get how to install them. I am running windows XP. As i have noticed most people are running macs. So if soem one good tell me in detail how to install them it would be great.

http://wiki.openttd.org/wiki/index.php/Coding_Tools
You need to obtain the source code, apply the patch to that and then compile. Make sure you have the proper version of the source code for the patch you want to apply. There's also a sticky in the forums: http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=21678 (yes, it's long, but not outdated)
And no, there's no easy "copy into directory and be done" - approach to patching a game.

Re: Installing Patchs.
In fact, the name "patch" itself is very misleading...
For most people, it's a binary that actually fixes an existing executable or something.
While the patch we are talking now is more the difference between two source files, which means a recompilation.
And no, we cannot provide binary patches, since ... well... it would be useless...
Open Source... you know... grab and recompile...
Or beg for someone to do, with not as much guarantee of success
Someone... poor guy... so much to do...

Re: Installing Patchs.
i'll do it, for 10€ for the first patch file, each subsequent file costs double the previous.

The screenshots are not (necessarily) made by the devs.DDPOTTER wrote:yep. maybe. i think the open ttd delvopers use mac.
I suspect at least for each major OS (win, lin, mac) a dev which has it as his primary platform.
