I've build some tracks and a station. The year is 1931. All I can choose from is a bus and a plain. The scenario is random.

I had played the game (if this is the game) some time ago - say 15 years - and don't quite remember having such starting difficulties. The AI isn't doing much either.

Assuming you don't have any newGRF files installed:

TTD's original vehicles start being introduced in 1950. TTDpatch and OpenTTD both managed to offer the player to start earlier, like 1930 as you say. However, the original vehicles still are not available until 1950.

Solution would be either starting in 1950, or installing newGRF sets which offer vehicles available from an earlier date.

Thanks. I am in 1950+ and the AI is already using its trains and buses. I build the tracks and stations between industry and the cities. How do I buy trains?? The only option I get is "rename", after selecting a train. I use TTD open.

Like I said in the other thread, you must build a depot first.
