Computer automatically restarts

Post by jt_55 »

Hi everyone, I have played locomotion for quite some time, but recently, there's a little problem while playing. The computer restarts for some reason at random times while playing. I don't know what causes this but it never happens while doing other things. Can someone help me please?

Don't know your PC specs, but large maps need a lot of cpu power.
With an old PC, it could be the power unit.

It's a AMD Sempron 2600+, with 1.83 Ghz, 224 MB RAM, and 40 GB hard drive. Video card's crappy, a VIA/S3G UniChrome IGP. I bought it a couple of years ago, so I'm not sure if this will fit into your category of old.

Thanks for the reply, though.

Hmm, with a bit of more ram, bigger Harddisk and a proper mid/low range vidcard and it can go some years.

But maybe its getting to warm?

So I should get a new computer?

My fan is working, so I don't think it's too warm.

Mine is even worse: 933Mhz Pentium III, 256MB RAM and a 16MB graphics card + the onboard one of only 4MB. So it might be irrelevant to your hardware.

It might be a virus problem. But I don't go search for *explicit adult material or anything like that, how could
I get a virus? If it is, I'm screwed. My Norton antivirus that came with the PC ran out a year ago.

Easily, you would be surprised at how easy you can get a computer virus, it isn't just because of porn material.

And as for an anti-virus software, download AVG Free anti-virus, one of the best free anti-virus programmes.

I would also get Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad-aware Free to search for spyware, cos I'm going to assume you haven't done that either. The first time you run both of these you will be rather shocked at how much spyware is on your pc.

There is no excuse for an internet connected computer to be "unprotected"! Free security tools are available to download, most can also be found on Magazine Cover Disks (Those that carry regular "utilities" or "Essential" software.....)

Links....

Spybot Search and Destroy

Ad-aware Free

FREE Anti-Virus....AVG (Very Good!)

Zone Alarm...FREE Firewall.(Very Good)

Hope this lot helps!
