switch for industry closures

Post by rAs^ »

yo,

at the moment i'm playing a superlarge map and every month I get spammed by like 10 messages of industries closing down. at this rate, soon there won't be any left! of course I can save some by supplying them with goods or replacing them but.. I just want to take it slowly, building at a steady pace and not having to worry about stuff closing down. (plus, pretty unrealistic if you end up with e.g. 200 power plants, 200 coal mines, 200 farms, but only 10 factories and steel mills :P )

so i was hoping someone could add a switch to turn on/off industry closures.

seeing http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?t=31366 and http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?t=28407 there's more people who'd like such an option

grtz

I also noticed this 'problem' at the start of my map, I was worried that I would be left without a single industry, but now in the year 1990 there are plenty.

More than I could ever need and all the time new ones are opened.

The only weird thing is that there is almost no sawmills left. Another strange thing is that I still have not gotten a bank, with 17 towns that have more than 2500 citizens, biggest is 25.000 and about 830.000 worldwide.

edit: typos

I would like to voice my support for such a switch. I know a lot of people say this is a penalty for working on a huge map and that you can always fund your own later, but not everyone thinks like this and the current setting can jeopardise my enjoyment of some games. Particularly on maps based on the real world, it would be nice if industries remained throughout the game.

Possibly there could be an option for modifying the probability of industry closure somewhere (this should be doable because I think I remember Chris Sawyer explaining the maths in the TTDLX manual). This could extend to primary industries as well - I have seen some complaints about their closure on the forums.

i'm pretty sure, that when a indusrty closes, the game replaces that indusrty with another somewhere else on the map, but i could be wrong

Nope. Other than being attached to the same RNG, industry generation and industry closure have nothing to do with each other.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.
