New pics online - Paul's Flickr experiments

Post by The Irish »

Hi guys, seams to be a general trend to upload pictures to flickr at the moment.
Well I took some pictures during the last week from around Brussels, which I would like to share with you.

So hereis a set of pics all transport related. More will follow soon. :D

EDIT: I updated the link above to my general foto topic, so that you can see all of my pictures...

they are quite good, at least from a passengers point of view.

I know they had some troubles in the beginning with them, but now they seam to be running well.

MIVB has them in use on two lines as far as I can tell:

23 Heizel - Gare du Midi with the 4000 series on workdays and 3000 series on WE
25 Rogier - Boondael with the 3000 series on workdays and the older trams on WE

Indeedy, cheers for those, although I must say that those multiple units with the big black surround and inset yellow bit at the front have got to be some of the strangest things I've ever seen!

Heh, I was wondering who added me . I looked at your recent photos, and didn't see any trains (people sitting on railway tracks, yes), and was like "wait, do I know this chap".

Good to put a popeye icon to a name

Cheers!

Nice pictures :)

Good to see a NMBS 1100 series with dutch carriages behind it :)
Its the international train between Amsterdam and Brussel South Midi.
This one connects to the TGV lines to France.

Those Belgian "Bumpercars" as i call them are indeed the most strange things in the tracks :D

completely agree with you on that one. Seams to be quite old stock as well. There is some other pretty ugly stuff still rolling around as well, but they don't make it to this place where I took these fotos...

Aaah, I see, because I added you as a friend, you could see also the pics about the beach trip with some friends... At least you know what I look like now... :o

BTW, that's Captain Haddock from the Tintin comics, and not Popeye

EDIT: I uploaded a big batch of additional pics. Unfortunately, this thing only lets me have three sets unless I upgrade to a pro account... so at the moment, it is all just a bit messy. I hope you can enjoy them anyways. :D

Heh, I haven't uploaded any friends-only photos. When I do, I shall sort out who my friends are in my contact list (ie, everyone from here would be able to view them, but not random people I don't know).

I am massive fail, sorry.

Raichase recommends Flickr! as a paid account user himself. They should post that on their front page.

Yeah, great place to spot, as there is a bridge rail/pedestrian right off the main station, crossing the river Rhein. So you get really close to the trains without breaking any rules whatsoever... :D

I remember taking pictures from the same bridge and I tried to get some shots of trains with the cathedral in the background but it didn't work very well because the Cathedral is so damn huge and the railway being so close it.

Hey folks,

Some new pics are online from my recent trip to Salzburg in Austria.

Salzburg is a great city for Trolleybus enthusiasts, as nearly all the citybuses are running under the wire. I only had a little time for taking pics, so they are all from around the same place, in the middle of the centre.

you can find them here

Enjoy :!:

Hi Guys,

Finally, I have managed to put some new pics online. All of these have been taken with my new camera, which has a nice optical zoom, adding some nice effects to the pics.

Check them out, grouped in sets:

River Rhine Ships

Bonn Mainstation

And I updated the Cologne Mainstation Set with some additional pics:

Cologne Mainstation

Enjoy :!:

I think I spammed you with comments, but they are quite good :]

Some of them are awesome, too. I'll let everyone find their own favorites, but the ones I commented on, I really liked. Granted, you can take it as a given that you'll see similar things popping up with my name on it, and of NSW trains

Yeah, very interesting but only 5?! :?

As a graphics´ artist working also on a set of inland vessels, I´d surely have been interested to see your "nice optical zoom" in action on these ships, hehe. 8)
Raichase wrote:Wow, thats a pretty interesting set up there - are there that many different river cruise liners? Day trips, or longer?
Middle Europe´s rivers are stuffed with those ships, you may also travel down the Danube from Germany via Austria, Hungary, ..., to the Black Sea.

And, not to be forgotten, especially on the Rhine and the Mosel, you may take part into those fancy "wine drinking events" if being an Australian, American or Japanese tourist. 8)

Always with the wine, eh Michael?

Paul, I'm shocking at uploading. I've got hundreds of photos in various states of being trimmed, resized and cleaned up, waiting to be finished/uploaded, but it's just not going to happen. I'm out more than I'm working on the photos I've already taken!

@ Michael,

There will be some more, be patient. If you need anything specific, let me know, I might go out and take some pics just for you.
PS, I did one of these Wine drinking events recently, was quite fun, although not so nice for my head the next morning... :?

@ Rai,

I have the same problem. It is A LOT more fun to take new pics, then to make them ready here for uploading...
