Hey guys, I just got the game up and running, and I must say, it is true goodtimes. However, I am having some difficulty with multiplayer. The issue is, I am trying to play this game with a friend, but when I create a server he cant see or find it, and when he creates one I cant see or find it. Any ideas on how to remedy this?
I let the game pass through windows firewall, and we each tried ip searches. What else should i do? Is there an issue if we are playing different versions, IE. 04 or 05?
Your help is much appreciated!

First of all, you should use the same release (candidate) or nightly build. Then you must have set the game to internet, open port 3979 for both TCP and UDP. Finaly you'll have to put the server on advertise to see it comming in the list, otherwise you will have to use the "connect <ip>[:port][:@company_id]" command.

A friend and I had an identical problem tonight... both our routers are set properly, we're both using the same build (an old nightly, R5442, customized with identical grfs that I know work because I've played them over my network) and everything is as it should be.
We still couldn't see one another's attempts at hosting on the list, and punching in my friend's IP address didn't do anything either.
We did everything you said to do, everything we used to do, but it just wouldn't let us connect or even see each other's game. Bah!

Software firewall?
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

I doubt it somehow. Like I said, we used to play online all the time - I'm on OSX and he's on XP and there were no problems.
We can see loads of other servers when we search, but when one of us hosts the other can't see it.
