Greetings Loco Fans. Ive been getting into Loco for a bit, and would like to learn how to use the Landscape Gen/Map Gen. As I understand I am to create a image(384x384pxls)in Paintshop or similar. The image is the be greyscale, in that it is varying shades of white to black. Any more than that and Im lost. How do I determine what is land an what isnt, none of the how tos ever seem to go further than create a greyscale picture ?
Any help is appreciated, thanks for your time, Grais.

thanks
K thanks, I did manage to get a couple of Maps generated, thing is they are not very useable. Howdo I control the height of the terrain, as it is I get massive cliffs and snow topped terrain. Would just like to be able to create a decent hilly kinda map that isnt all squared off.
You'll need to edit the image in photoshop or something. By altering the brightness, contrast etc. you should be able to find settings that work well - i.e. the sea is not too deep, the mountains are not too high. It is really trial and error, but if someone has rgb values that work for them, they could post them here I suppose...

Thanks Andysine, and I enjoy your scenarios great fun.
Last night I had a bit of fun just googled height maps, and got several that were suitable, after turning them grayscale and cropping to the proper size I got a couple of decent maps, almost useable, so Im sure with some more practice I will have some decent maps to share.
Which brngs me to my next thought, people sharing maps, I realise some of you will want to keep your masterpieces but I imagine theres probably quiite a few that are useable, and would give the scenario maker who isnt able to create custom maps something other than the square head maps we are forced to work with.
What is the deal with the square maps anyways, really wish they would have expanded the scenartio maker a bit to include some more landscape options, but alas, nothing is perfect.
Soooo anybody interested in setting up a Map repository of some sorts, maybe just an extra category n th4e downloads for "landscapes". Just throwing it out there, what do people think ??

Making the maps needs a lot of patience... but the mapgen programme is amazing!
I cant upload the BMP file i use as a 'template'. But beleive it or not MSPaint was the easiest way to set it up.
