Ore in stations declining?

Post by Dragn »

Hello everyone,

I have a bunch of copper ore mines with stations next to them, and the ore in them declines every now and then (It also happens when there aren't any trains in the stations). Is this normal? Also, in some stations the ore gets transferred from the mine to the stations rather slowly. The percentage transported in the mines is rather low, and because of this some trains leave the station only half full. Is there a way to improve this?
Srry if the answers can be found elsewhere, I'm currently playing with my brother and I didn't look very long :)
I am playing openttd 0.4.8, I'll attach the savegame
Thx in advance!

I believe it's rather normal, tho you could take a look at the configuration of your OpenTTD for a setting which changes that.

Besides, wrong forum. Don't get lost if your topic gets moved to the OpenTTD forum.

try setting the train to full load at the pickup stations in the orders list.
JPG SUX!!! USE PNG!!!
There are times when JPG is useful, TTD screenshots is not one of them. Please use PNG instead.

I've got the same problem.
Iron ore mine tells me that 99tons/month are generated.
But the Station only recives 22tons/month.
First i only had 1 train traveling between the mine and the steel factory. It took the train 5months to get from the mine to the steel factory and back again (is that normal ? it isnt that far away....) and the mine even generated less ore.
Then i added a second train trying to increase the raiting, and the mine started to generate a bit more (what i wrote above).
Any idea why the Station doesnt get the 99tons/month like the mine states ?
Currently im playing nightly build 7080 with ukrs

Each station receives a percentage of items produced in it's catchment area based upon the station rating for that item (eg ore).
Ratings change depending how good a service you provid, and you can see them by clicking the ratings button at the bottom of the station popup.
There's some info on how the rating is worked out in the manual here.

Yeh, i figured out that much ;)
The problem is, the more trains i use to guarantee a ruglar service the less they carry per way and the less they earn.
Btw. is it normal that 1 day lasts around 1 second ?
Most of my trains take around 2 months of gametime to drive from 1 station to another to deliver their cargo. But the track imo isnt that long (i think around 65 Tiles air-line distance, or around 100 track distance)

1 day should last approximately 2 seconds.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

I think bobingabout's suggestion to use full load is most likely to help in both cases. The 'days since last pickup' which the rating is based upon doesn't refer to how often trains leave the station, but how long the good/ore are left waiting at the station before a train loads them. To get the most out of an industry, make sure there is always a train waiting - using a full load order. You don't need as many trains this way too.
