Unlimited* cash in TTD - need some testers

Post by Patchman »

Thanks to a sudden inspiration I was able to change how the money is stored to a 64-bit variable, so the old 2 bn £ limit is gone now.

I need some people to test this feature in the latest nightly, available at http://nightly.ttdpatch.net/latest/ to see if there are any bugs.

This feature cannot be turned off at the moment, although I could probably add a miscmods setting for it.

* May not be entirely correct

The unlimited money works. :D

The bug I found : the station have omitted the first character of the name.
This only applies to my and not my competitors stations though.
This also only applies if the transparent station names is selected in the enhanced gui settings.

Another bug I discoverd, which also is present in beta 5, is the fact that coastlines made up with the help of canals get flooded if the diagonal flooding is enabled. (see picture)

My game.

[edit] Another problem : the euro selection via game options contains a rather large number, maybe it's the money I earned with my game ? [/edit]

Btw. nightly 421 means it has my patch aswell to count vehicles right in the company window. So it displays correctly say 500 trains ;) PS: I will try to add more more vehicle support aswell, so you are allowed to have more then 240 trains natively without switching around. (Still the vehicle list window will be broken however)

WOHOO!!! Eis_os you are fabulous!!

This is exactly what I need for my larger goods transporting maps, I always end up having not enough trains slots. In fact that is one of the reasons why I never played till the end of the game. (gee I think this was a wish from me since I found out about the patch)

1) You're using the yellow company colour, which is the only one that triggers this... fixed in the next nightly, until then change to a different colour
2) This is intentional. If you look at your canals, you'll notice that there's a hole in the corner through which it floods. For each corner, you need to build another canal, or else turn off diagonal flooding.
3) Fixed as well

1)ok did that, and all is well
2)ah, I always was under the false impression it was a graphical glitch. Fixed and it works now.
3)good to know.

Another thing is that I have a feeling that my competitors with no vehicles go bankrupt sooner as they did before, but I can't really put my finger on it.

And I feel poor. Where can I download that HQ graphic? I remember seeing it on the Dinges' site but it's gone...

You can find it here.

It's not a grf but an execute file, but the zip also has an undofile in case you want to get rid of it.

There is an experimental bit switch to allow >255 train consists, should be in the next nightly, aka >= r443

Slightly OT, but are the nightlies worth downloading for such new features? Or are they just for bug-testers?

They're worth downloading if you can't wait for the next beta, and don't mind finding a bug or crash or two...

I wonder what direction this variable-size-changing trend will go next? I'm personally hoping that it jumps at the map array and gives us larger map options. :)

There is no variable size change. (as the text says, we have to wait for 2.6 for it) The patch distributes the vehicle numbers across the range of 1..255 evenly. And replaces the old code which tend to hang with consinstnumbers > 255 when buying trains.

Some notes, you still have 5000 orders, means you have to use SharedOrders otherwise you will run out of order space!
The vehicle list has to wait for 2.6 aswell... it's totally broken, I know...

The map array is used on thousands of places whereas the consistnumber is used on very few places...
