Bigmap scenario's

Post by Samual Wallow »

Since I started playing openTTD I really looked out for Bigmaps. Now we can use them (not in hte latest realease, but in nightly builds) I was wondering if any of you took the time to build a well constructed continent in a Bigmap....

So: If you got any Bigmaps, please post them here.

I am currently working on a 10x10 bigmap myself, it will be finished in about 2-3 days I hope (lots of hours of work).

Sam.

p.s. I started this thread to get a clear list of bigmaps, so dont go off-topic on this one please.

Alright, as promised I started building this bigmap. It's called Derania, and what is posted here is the geography of the world. It's got mountains, rivers, plains, hills, islands, woods, A lot.

Later today Ill be posting the version including full towns, industries and continent names.

Any comments/suggestions are welcome.

But for now: Enjoy the sights.

Sam.

Made in Nightly Build 2147, no newgrf's needed.

I updated Derania, I found there is plenty of primary indutries, but a bit of lack of secondary industries in some parts of the map, making it less attractive to build there, even in later years of the game.

Hereby a big map (size 10x10) of the UK. I think it is rather accurate. Industries however are a bit random

Excellant map :D I've not played it, but had a look around, looks really good. You even put Calais in there!

Is this still in progress? only theres a few anomolies around the edge of the map. Ie. one labelled "North Centre"
NB: the below challenges are still open for submission, so feel free to perform necromancy on them!
Try the PouncingAnt National Monopoly Challenge
Or even better, the PouncingAnt National Monopoly Challenge 2
Or better still, the PouncingAnt National Monopoly Challenge 3
Or, the PouncingAnt National Monopoly Challenge 4

Or try my scenario instead!

The small pieces of land along the edges are the remains of the grid I used to make the map. They have no use and can be deleted. I just left them to show what the grid is like (see north west corner of the mao) The grid makes it easier to design the map.

the UK map in Locomotion had pretty accurate industries, eg. coal in the coal mining cities in times gone by the UK - if you can, use that for reference of approximate placing for industries?

in case somebody manages to make a final version of a good one, it could be added to the releases, but we need to be told. People write so much on the forum that we don't read all of it and misses a lot of stuff
