problems with setting up a network

Post by cR00z »

hey, I just registered to this forum and I wanted to ask you something.
I played TTD for quite a while now but I never really built a network, I always built railways from f.i. an Iron ore to a steel mill.

The game got bored, but now I wanted to play it again, so I reinstalled the whole thing (which gave me a few problems, but that's for later on).

I wanted to built a network, but I have no clue where to begin. should I make a 'central/main railway' of something else?
I understand the basics of pre-signals and stuff, but not the real complicated junctions and stuff so please keep it simple ;-)

Are there any other tips, like what is the best setup for rails?
-> 2 rails: one in each direction, or 2 rails with signals and connections between them, so the trains can change tracks or 1 rail (how do you do that by the way)

now about the problems: I use TTDPatch Starter to start TTDPatchw.exe, but when I start the game, I always have to go to game options and chenge the currency I want and stuff like that, isn't there any way to make it save the data??

Thanks A LOT!!!!!!!

I always begin with a specific route, wich is double track (one track for each direction) and all other tracks I make are connected to that.

Maybe you can learn some thingies from the screenshot sticky?

start off with one route, either go coal/wood or something thats subsidiesed. keep building up individual double tracked routes (1 track = one way) using as much original track as possible. youll then have a network.
another thing some people do is only use one factory, which means taking goods half way across the map and back.
