I have been chatting on these forums quite a bit for the last couple months and I am amazed at the hatred and bigotry of the Europeans in here. I really thought you were smarter than what the last week’s threads are proving. I am an American, I don't agree with most of what my country does but at least it is a free country where I have the right to my own opinions without being imprisoned or silenced. I am forced to live under the majority’s opinion (a Democracy) which means not every single person on our side of the ocean believes the same thing. But I also live here, this is my home, and I take serious offense to the narrow ignorant stereotype that you "enlightened" Europeans have of us. I also have the right to call the rest of you a**holes for your irrational generalization of myself, my family and my friends.

Why don't we start a thread about how much we hate all those Jews, Arabs, Mexicans, Blacks, etc. Or I guess because America is the greater evil. Maybe if we had the same opinions of you in 1945 that you have of America today you could all be speaking German and there wouldn't be a Jew left in the Eastern Hemisphere. Get a life.

If you want to debate issues then great. If you want to just post, "laugh at the stupid [your stereotype here]" then I'll find another forum to be a part of.

the us didnt want to join in the second world war, but you did (eventually),(mainly) because the Japanese attacked you. (atleast, that is what i thought...)

you may have helped us win the war (and kill thousands of innocent german civilians) but that doesnt mean if you hadnt joined us we would have lost.

oh, and where does you eastern hemisphere end? as in the russians did start fighting back and winning (though did they get help from americans?)

I agree with the need to respect people but correct me if I'm wrong, has anyone literally said Americans are stupid, ignorant, instable, xenophobic or whatsoever? The person who said that might better consider moving to the USA if that's his/her opinion. The only thing I read on the forums are jokes about Americans. There may be funny jokes and jokes that come close to being insulting but as they don't get personal that's OK with me. I think you need to relax a bit and not worry about the few ignorant people who think they can judge a book by its cover.

Its because of the elections. Politics inspires passion and for some reason the rest of the world (not just Europe) can see Bushs failings.

So you're saying Americans helped fight the Nazis because they actually agreed with them? No, they disagreed with them, that's why they fought them. Just like the rest of the world disagrees with the direction America is headed today.

So what? Are we supposed to love you forever for joining in on the second worldwar when it was basically already over? All the US did was speed up the liberation of Europe (which we thank you for); but Germany was already fighting a losing war.
Thinking along the same lines you should be eternally greatful for France, yes for France!, for they helped liberate US from the clutches of the British Empire...or you conveniently forgot all about that?

The one that means they can lock you away without even charging you? And yes i know it's (supposed to be) terrorism related, but that definatly sounds like silencing to me.

Also, if you have the right to expressing your opinions (which you are doing in this thread), then why don't the bigoted European types have that same privaledge?
We can all happily call each other names for a long time, but it won't solve anything.

Look, we don't see America as 'the greater evil'. And we don't think of you as dumb people, it's just a 'j/k' stereotype. I live in holland, and there are A LOT of jokes/misconceptions about dutch people, so you should stop being offended because someone jokes about your country. Besides, we Europeans don't hate you, we're currently just worried about Bush etc.

LOL i just went back to quote some of the earlier message saying things like "Americans just killed a bunch of innocent Germans in wwii" but it's gone. Perhaps part of my problem is seeing things before they get 'screened' by the moderators.

Anyway, the American jokes were going beyond the range of teasing and getting ugly. And yes, there have been some specific attacks.

No I agree our "representative democracy" with two parties is total garbage compare to other superior forms of government. But that was a previous thread.

That's makes some sense but I'm not trying to get people to stop arguing with the US goverment. I'm trying to get people to stop posting ridiculous stereotypes of an actual group of people, not an idea or government.

the one about innocent germans deing in wwii, was posted by me, and it is still there. and i thought it might read like that, which is not how is was supposed to come across.
ill try again, "you helped us win the war, and you helped us kill lots of innocent germans" better?, im referring to the bombing of towns like dresden amongst others. as to why i was referring to it, i cant remember, ill try to remember later

the spelling about the word ass, was me just getting on how you cant spell (you should easily be able to say something against that)
and the fact the in american ass=arse/backside, but in british ass=donkey. (so when people read some old books with the word ass, they get confused, well maybe)

i was wondering whether what i thought you said was correct, but obviously not.
one problem i see is that when the us goverment does something stupid, some people say, american government is stupid. but most people say americans are stupid when the mean the previous one.

So you censor completely biased, intolerant offenses. First, I haven't seen any balck bar put over words. Second, I highly doubt it's the task of a normal forum member to censor things. Third, what do you call biased for it might very well be that you biased that 'perceived biased remark' yourself. I cannot look at people unbiased, nobody can. And if you sincerely believe you are the sole person in the world who does judge people unbiased you proof you're wrong yourself (since claiming you are unbiased biases your view on the world too).

America (the USA) was founded by Europeans who risked their lives crossing the ocean, exploring uncharted territories and fighting natives. I don't think Europe is indebted to the US in any way for saving us during the second world war. The "you'd be speaking German right now" argument isn't really valid.

On the other hand I agree that hatred and disrespect for people living in the USA is just wrong. Yet on the other hand your post doesn't really show much respect for Europeans either. You too are generalising, calling names and showing disrespect; something you accuse us of.

That's rich, so they were Europeans in the colonies and in WWII because they originated in Europe. Not Americans that founded America and fought in WWII. So being American is sort like being Eurpean with a seperate "condition". No Amercians left Europe for a majority of reason (like religious persecution) and created a seperate country though a bloody murderous revolution. Very different, sorry I can't agree with that viewpoint less.

I respect Europeans and listen to your opinions on a lot of things, except when you call me a generalization. I posted this because the US bashing started to really get on my nerves. Thanks for getting offended when I started generalizing in the way that offended me in the first place. It proves my point.
