As stable is fairly old (about May?), Trunk is at least a few hours old.

Because it still says "I'm 1.0.2 and I work correctly when joining a 1.0.2 server", which is absolutely not true.

There's no point to give a patch which changes the game a particular name other than the automatically generated one; it won't work with any other binary other than _identically patched ones_. So there's absolutely no point to call it 1.0.2 and it's nicer to use a patch with trunk as you a) have all the latest bug fixes and b) you make it easier to maintain the patch and keeping it up to date.

As to way not, read from here on: http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?p=886889#p886889

Hopefully you can make sense of it, even though it doesn't necessarily relate to IS2, but trunk and stable patches in general.

I've had a shocker. When trying to play my scenario using this patch, I get the inevitable 'scenario is made with newer version'. Will this mean waiting until this patch is updated to the latest trunk (~1.1-1.2)?

Trunk is not 1.1/1.2 these are called the 'stable' version. Trunk is the nightlies (currently 20081)

Oops, looks like I have got my terms in a muddle. So, I need to wait until it is updated against the latest stable, or trunk r2008x as you say ? Is this something that will take days/weeks/months usually?

Ever heard of D.I.Y? There's plenty of documentation to help. At the moment people don't have the time/resources to make binaries, so I'm afraid you're either going to have to attempt it yourself, or wait

Nahh never head of it  The thing is, as I hadn't the foggiest idea how often these binaries were produced, I thought there would be no point of doing some DIY if these binaries were produced every few days.

Sharing railroads and stations is one of the first features of this patch, what exactly are you missing?

I want to have this included in OTTD installer for everybody (into stable version, not standalone patch), to make it popular.

See previous posts as to why it won't be in trunk.
Specifically:
FooBar wrote:Given the list of issues (I haven't tried this patch myself any time recently), the version existing today is playable without problems, but trunk inclusion needs some major work. Furthermore some features may be missing, but not broken.

I think it's safe to say that you can play a game with this without problems.

I tried applying the .diff posted by Anon... but it went horribly. Is it the .diff that is wrong, or am I being stupid?

I don't know which diff. But it is recommended to directly pull from the repository instead of 3rd-party patches created from their own check-outs.

Ah ok. Sorry for this, but win my latest patching attempt, I get 'There are still some unresolved conflicts in line 587'. And 584. Have I done something wrong, again?

Hey to all. a friend and i are playin since days with tracksharing (self compiles version 1.0.2 ) and i would like to post some
comments to IS 2.1.1.

- The really missing Feature ( maybe on your todo list? ) is a cost bill for all firms not using their
own tracks

- when my train stops in an opponent deopt
i will not get ( i am not quiet sure ) the "Train XX is waiting in depot YY.
Maybe the opponent player receives it, will be tested this evening.

- My opponent told me, he can control my Train, till it is waiting in his deopt.
is this intended ?`will be tested this evening, too

I.S. 2.11 is a nice feature and should be implemented in OTTD, good work all developers !

Last querstion: Will the individual sharing settings come back ?

regards, BasCom

May you give more details about that? Why firms which are not using their own tracks should receive a special bil?

One can control trains which are on his or her rails, this is intended and very helpfull when managing a traffic jam (especially when a player, whose train is not in game). This includes depots. Imagine, you want to remove the depot and someone sent a train to it (and now is offline)
