And then for finishing touches we add some more non-track tiles and some extra eye candy tracks that may or may not be functional depending on if you need them.

All the ballasted tracks in the upper right corner comes with the help of Standardized UK Trackset (SUKTS), which includes some non-track track tiles (empty track ballast).

SUKTUS being very very useful in creating realistic stations and station approaches as it is full ballast.

Now to detract from our usual flat stations, we can also make use Dutch Stations elevated tiles. These tiles use overlaps to create a clever visual effect that covers up the foundation.

Elevated Stations

Here we have an elevated S-Bahn line that could use a station.

This is what it will look like without the “platforms with foundations” tiles.

Could definitely be better. We can add some of the single foundation tiles to make it look more realistic.

And now we can add some details.

I like adding these platform end pieces to bring it together a bit.

We can then add some more details with these fake underpass tiles and platform roof tiles.

Unfortunately, these shelters are not in this same section. They’re in the “single sided platforms” section as the Hanzelijin-Style shelters.

Then you end up with this. The road doesn’t match, but it looks about good enough. It’s a fake road anyway.

Looks pretty good! Now onto our final section…

Large Hub Stations and Terminals

Alright there’s two (and a half) main types of big city stations you’ll see in real life. Through stations - think New York City Pennsylvania Station, Utrecht Centraale, Shin-Osaka where there are entrances on both sides of the station where trains usually run through to one side or the other.

Then we have terminus stations such as New York Central Station, Paris Gare Du Nord, and London Waterloo where trains only enter and exit in one direction.

Then there’s also a combination of the two that I think is pretty cool. Usually an old terminus station (very popular design for railroad stations in big cities until the 1920s or so), but with a more modern through station attached to it for more modern S-Bahn/RER style services. Think Sydney Central Station, London Bridge or even Munchen HBF.

The rest of this section is currently Under Construction :D

Can I get a mod to delete this? I have resorted to directly sharing PDF's to the discord. Shame you can only attach three images at a time here.

Why not post the PDFs here? Discord is ephemeral compared to this forum. ;)

(Probably don't upload the PDFs as attachments due to hosting space, but host them on GitHub or something and link them here.)

You can also use the OpenTTD wiki to create tutorials and upload images.

I actually recommend against that. The Wiki is prone to surprise upgrades which break all the old links. (Yes, this happened only once so far, but even one link breakage is one too many.)

If you want your work to persist for 10 years or more, the best option is to upload everything (text, images and other files) to this forum.

"Prone to" is a strong phrasing for something that has happened just once and has no sign of being a thing that will repeat again and again. And "surprise" is a strong word to describe something that was prepared in open development, over many months.

Is there a link to this pdf somewhere outside discord?
I just googled for "discord openttd" but cannot get past the human test... "click on the entry that is not a pair". I did this twenty times, it keeps asking.

Happy to do so but the forum doesn't let me edit any of my posts anymore... due to some sort of editing limit it seems. So I'd just have to make a new topic anyway.

To any mods out there please delete this so I don't get people messaging me about the images being deleted anymore. :D

I would delete it myself but it doesn't look like I have the ability to do so.
