Construction sprites! I need construction sprites!

:D

Those are flippin' fantastic, Oz. I'd hate to think how much alcohol was needed to get you suitably screwed up enough to draw them.

Oh, and regarding the variations, can you not merge the two buildings to the one tile in the final sprites? I can do some elite coding magic to make every possible combination possible :D.

What can I say? I like them all. They're perfect, I think. My only suggestion is: snowy versions.

Good luck with the thesis meeting. I'm having a hard enough time getting into an MA program with first-class honours, I can only imagine how challenging it'll be once I'm accepted somewhere. And that's just an MA. :?

We all know what "BS" stands for, right? MS is "More of the Same", and PhD is "Piled Higher and Deeper". ;)

Whichever degree you're going for, good luck, and congratulations.

The graphics look very nice, although it's not my favourite type of architecture

So, let me get this right, Aegir, if I cut the individual buildings into sprites, and draw some generic construction stages that are suitable for them all, you can randomly place the buidings on a ground sprite? The way the're drawn now, five of them are 18 pxls wide, and the last four I drew are 14 pxls wide. That way, you put the two together, and you have a full 32 pxl tile. Is that cool?

lifeblood: In the works, man. Still waiting to see that station in your avatar! 8)

DaleStan: Piled higher and Deeper it is. Skipped the MS, and going straight from BS to Ph.D. It's already taken me two years just to get enough preliminary data for me to PROPOSE what additional research I'll need to support my thesis. So much for in-and-out in five years. :P

Purno: The Chicago School buildings I drew were the "first" kind of skyscraper, thanks to the invention of the elevator. I'm working on other styles as well, including some classsic Art Deco. These buildings are just to give the large cities early in the game (1920's - 1950's) a more appropriate feel. I mean, there weren't any glass and steel skyscrapers in the 30's the way it appears now in the game.

Cheers, all, and thanks for the input.

Ah, shizznit! I've gone and done it this time. Looks like I'll be hanging around grad school for a little while longer. My thesis committee approve my research. Oh, darn, REALLY? Does that mean that I don't have to go out into the real world again for awhile?

Ugh! Two hours. TWO hours of grilling. Man, that sucked big time. I know something that'll soothe my pain, though.

Cheers!

Oh, yeah, the reason that I posted to begin with: Yeah, Hyr, I've got a few Art Deco buildings in the works as well. I really want that roaring 20's feel, ya know? Congrats on the mod gig. It's truly well deserved! :D

I would love to see a US Buildings set. We always intended to have one but never got round to it. Certainly I would be happy to put it on the US set site along with everything else there.

What the bloody hell has Aegir been slaving away at coding? And, as I recall, Oz is the creative genius behind all the buildings...

You can't blame him. Its hard to spot if you aren't looking for it, especially when its in a thread which reads to be about something different from the topic name.

Is there actually a complete American building set? I've seen some very sharp-looking buildings floating around, but I've never seen an actual complete and comprehensive set. If there is, I'd love to have a look at it and to post it on the US set with the rest of the US everything else.

Not complete, but then again that takes the increasingly talented coding skills of Aegir, as well as the awesome drawing skills of Oz. Aegir has coded pretty much everything that Oz has completed, and we all know that Oz can't just knock a set up buildings up overnight.

Oz and Aegir are doing a tremendous job, and it cheapens their effort for the US Set Team Leader to be ignorant of it's prescece. I'm not annoyed, but it must hurt feelings.

You want "nabs.grf"

Sure he wants nabs.grf? nabsw.grf is mighty fine aswell.

And krtaylor, you are a very funny man.

Alright! Take it outside, guys! No fightin's allowed in the Bar. :D

krtaylor: A few months ago Aegir coded the original sprites that I drew (and i mean my very first buildings ever posted). So, I've been slowly reworking the originals, and building upon them over the course of the ensuing months. It's not a U.S. Set, per se, but a more generic set that can be used for the US and Canadian sets. Or, European, Aussie, or whatever else people want to use them for. I'm currently trying to fill out the early years (20's-50's) - pre-TTRS v2.

Aegir: I'll have the Chicago School sprites coming to you in the next few days, so get the coding cap on, oh wizened-one. :P

Cheers!

Well, they all look fantastic. Like I said, I knew there were great-looking buildings around that looked North American. I didn't know the coding progress had gone that far. When you decide you are ready, and if you would like, I would be happy to post them on my site with your permission as US buildings, and of course I see no reason why they couldn't also be offered as Canadian buildings with Dan's set, if he wants to.
