Re: Train Fever
Instead of editing each loco and wagon separately. you can always use the cost_mod instead and it'll change it all for you. You can also change the percentages to your liking as well. I use it at 100%, or rather 0%, until they fix it or to try out the vehicles I made. Even tho the game is flawed in more ways than one, I still think it has major potential especially being able to create the track like in the image that Purno posted. We were never able to do this in TT or Lomo. I hope they implement more crossings tho. It's hard to create a good looking yard like I did in Lomo with just the basic crossing that is in the game now.
Here's the link to the cost_mod on the German site.

There is also a timeless_mod that makes all the vehicles available from day one til forever but be careful if you try it. It slowed down my game so much that it was unplayable.
There is also this one that I'm testing now. DasMatze_10xCapacity. With this installed, when creating a new map, it gives 10x the amount of people and buildings and the towns/cities are much larger with a higher population meaning the towns will need more goods to be delivered. I just started it yesterday so I can't tell ya how good it works but I think it will work well. Oh and there is also a 3x version as well. I'm trying to find the link to it to post it. brb.

Just so ya know, if you use this, it takes even longer for a new map to be generated using this. It might take a couple/three more minutes to load/start. I have a quad core and it takes like 3 minutes maybe. Your experience might vary.
Oh yeah, one more thing. If you're gonna use any of these mods, I highly recommend the mod_Manager because it creates a back up of the original files when installing the mods except for the cost mod. That one is a bit different because it changes many files. I just keep a fresh install of the game in a different folder incase of needing a fix or you can use Steam to verify the content.

EDIT: One more thing I learned when building train stations near industries. The station needs to be connected to the roads to work, or connected to the network as said in game when not, BUT, they DON'T have to be connected to the roads that is already there. I delete all the roads near the industry, place my station close to the industry and make sure to leave a little room for the road. Then for the road itself, I just build the smallest piece I can coming off of the station. That's all ya need for it to work and the cargo doesn't take a long time on the road to get to the station.

Re: Train Fever
I had a proper go, it seemed okay until my 50 horse wagons life expired. Is there some sort of auto-replace or renew mechanism?
I found having two cities fully covered with buses (stagecoaches) with a double track railway between them with two trains was making me a tidy profit!

Re: Train Fever
Unfortunately there isn't. A lot of people are asking for this. The only thing that makes it easier is in the 'Lines' window, there is a $ to the right of each line. hit that and it'll send all vehicles to the depot and sell them.Born Acorn wrote:Is there some sort of auto-replace or renew mechanism?
Do you guys know about using the M and N keys to raise and lower a road to create a bridge? If not try it. It works pretty good in a lot spots.

Re: Train Fever
For those who are yet to get the game, it is currently 40% off on Steam.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/304730/
don't forget, the Christmas sales aren't too far away, so you may get an even better deal in a months time, so i'll be waiting and trying my luck then!

Re: Train Fever
Well, I will still be waiting till they finish the public beta testing ...
My patches: Day length (new concept), Conditional loading, Auto separation, Unload all adds Leave empty, Better statue placement (in trunk)
My abandoned patches: Speed limits for RVs, Day length (old concept)

Re: Train Fever
At 40℅ off that's good value if you like transport management sims (anyone on these forums like those?).
After a few play throughs now though I'm just getting so frustrated at x'ings / interface and every map looking the same that I'm bored. But no regrets. It'll get better with time.

Re: Train Fever
Been playing this game a lot lately and IMO it deserves it's own section in the forums.
It's gotten pretty decent after all the patches and while it still has flaws it already is a proper transport game.
Here's a bunch of screenies of my latest modded out game http://postimg.org/gallery/b29pb0uo/ Don't expect any realism, it's pretty much Europe meets USSR meets USA when it comes to rolling stock.
Time frame in my game is the transition from steam to diesel/electric.
I'll throw a few thumbnailed pics from that gallery into this post.
Two angles of the main station.

And this is the kind of traffic that it gets.

And here's two american steamers at a junction.

Probably the best part about this game for me are the mods, almost all the locos and multiple units i use are all made by the community and there's tons more out there than i am using.

They have their own forums, located at http://www.train-fever.com/forums/ Fairly sure they'd rather you keep it all in their own place where they can see all the feedback without having to trawl the netKiller 11 wrote:Been playing this game a lot lately and IMO it deserves it's own section in the forums..

Re: Train Fever
I suppose I'd better buy it then. Strictly for research purposes.

Re: Train Fever
Indeed. €8.49 for this game + Free USA DLC. I'm going to have a go at this now. Might be worth it after all.
EDIT: Uhm.. I have a decent computer and I can't zoom out on a medium map still. It's just impossible to move around properly. I tried loading a small map but it crashed. So I guess this game is still in the alpha stages.

Have you updated your GPU drivers?Chrill wrote:EDIT: Uhm.. I have a decent computer and I can't zoom out on a medium map still. It's just impossible to move around properly. I tried loading a small map but it crashed. So I guess this game is still in the alpha stages.
What are your system specifications?

Re: Train Fever
Lucky you, at least you could start the game. On my computer it doesn't start because the GPU drivers aren't up to date, but I can't get more up to date drivers because my computer is too old and the GPU is no longer supported.Chrill wrote:Indeed. €8.49 for this game + Free USA DLC. Re: Train Fever
Why didn't you check the minimum requirements before buying the game? ^^;
Re: Train Fever
8GB of RAM, graphics card ASUS HD7770 which is decent enough. Could perhaps not be the most recent drivers so I shall look into that.Robbedem wrote:Have you updated your GPU drivers?Chrill wrote:EDIT: Uhm.. You would be surprised how often games run fine below minimum requirements. And for the price the game was, I can wait until I buy a new computer.Pyoro wrote:Why didn't you check the minimum requirements before buying the game? ^^;

Re: Train Fever
Naw, I won't be, as I still used a rather old PC until very recently myself. It's true, but, well, risky.
Anyways, I see, that makes sense then.
Played a bit yesterday, looks nice enough and old. But I need some more time to really get into it, I guess. =)

Re: Train Fever
My PC easily meets the system requirements of the game, but I seem to get fairly frequent hanging when scrolling.

Re: Train Fever
I have similar issues, using an i5 3.5GHz and 8GB RAM, 650Ti 2GB GFX. The game still seems to lack some somewhat necessary further tweaking, and according to the reddit page for it, it is still in 'beta' phase, not sure why they decided to sell it on steam as a full priced game and not marked as Early Access.Chrill wrote:Indeed. €8.49 for this game + Free USA DLC.
