Hyronymus - I mean not to be rude sir but it is not difficult to briefly translate it yourself if you want to know what is being said.
Besides, not everyone in the world can speak English.
From Andermatt
Destination: Gletsch
I made the Furka Pass and the Bernina Express is not too long.
And yes, I am using google translate as I only know about 5 words in French.

Bonjour six-ten. La langue est ici en anglais.
Il serait mieux si vous parliez anglais. Toutefois, si vous ne pouvez pas alors translate.google.com peut vous aider! :)
Tous les meilleurs :D

No rudeness taken and I can read it myself. This is an English-speaking forum though.

If everyone would exercise that attitude, you'd not stop using google translate as 90% of the postings would NOT be in English. Besides: if google translate is that easy: why not ask that of the people posting? It's then one time work instead of every person (trying to) read it.

Accepting every language would be the end of this being a useful forum, especially considering: how do you keep an eye on keeping the forum rules and much more important postings not being spam, if you need to run every posting through an online translator? Other languages have their own forums for this very purpose.

Interestingly, Google Translate is rather variable with different languages, probably due to factors such as the writing system and closeness to English. It does Swedish - English pretty well (I've had a few conversations in Swedish using Google), but everyone knows it does Japanese appallingly bad. How does German compare I wonder, since that's not too far from English.

which I translate to
and google translates it back to
It is interesting that Google Translate is very different in different languages, probably due to factors such as handwriting and the proximity to the English. It is in Swedish - English very good (I know because I had a few conversations in Swedish using Google). But everyone knows that it is happening with the Japanese shockingly heavy. How does German, I wonder, because that is not too far away from English.

I think the elephant in the room here is that even translated, the posters original message is complete garbage. The language it is posted in is (almost) immaterial if the content itself is spam.

Looks like it should've been in the "recent journeys" thread, in which case I think most of us could've had a guess at the translation just from the structure of the post.

de : andermatt If the below is destination, this is presumably from
destination: Gletch Destination is easy enough
J'ai fais le col de la Furka et la bernina express il n'y a pas si longtemps. Something about a Bernina express not being too long, but does that really matter too much anyway if it was in the right topic?

He's basically saying that he hasn't been over the Furka pass on the Berdina express for a long time.

Hello SixTen,

What a coincidence neither have I.

Actually I didn't know the Furka had a parallel railway line. So i learned something new.
