Indeed. You need to press the fast-forward button in order to have it working.

MMMm yea you did i have it pressed on but the game seems to run at the same speed as normal

Fast forward means "go as fast as your computer can handle that particular map" by leaving out the possible wait time to the next game tick / step. Most probable and obviously your computer is too slow to (significantly) increase the speed as the time it needs to compute a single game tick / step takes already about as long as a tick is supposed to last at normal speed.

furthermore, you can disable "full animation" from settings. This way the speed of fastforwarding will be improved

Hmmm ok I understand what your saying, however I did a reload on my PC (a clean install). Before that TTD run smooth and when I pressed the fastforward it ran faster than the normal game ( no change in settings). Now that I have reinstall the game when I press fast forward it runs at the same speed as normal speed.

Does the same also happen if you start a new game and press fast forward?
