[larger ship capacities]

This had been discussed a couple of times in the past, w/o result. As Eddi wrote, "larger" capacities make ships more problematic w/r to gameplay. There are just too many imponderables w/r to industry output, industry clustering, etc.

For 0.48 I´ve slightly increased capacities in NewShips, but not to "5-10 times bigger".

George wrote: How much ships do you need to keep fishing grounds on the ultimate production level? Imho, there would be a profit of having ships with capacity of several thousands tons.
The future trend in fishing is toward smaller units :P :

Not with long FIRS game (I have 10 oil platforms with production 1M l of oil/month).
Eddi wrote:big ships are incredibly useless from gameplay perspective.
Yes, it is way more effective to carry cargo from oil platform using train. But I want to use effective (3 for platform, not 30) ship.

I´ve released version 0.2 of the "Maritime Collection Set" (MariCo), a NewObjects set providing a collection of maritime objects both for TTDPatch and OpenTTD.
newships+marico.png

Version 0.2 includes harbour infrastructure, such as moles, mole lights and (fake) ships at moles. Further versions of MariCo will include more harbour infrastructure (harbour buildings, loading appliances, etc), means of traffic control (lighthouses, buoys, radar control towers) and natural maritime objects like rocks, reefs, bars, steep coasts, icebergs, etc. pp.

You may download it here (DOS and Windows version). Please note that the bundles contain "donotreadme" files, both in English and German.

Have fun.

PS: NewShips version 0.48 will be available in a couple of days.

Now you've done it! A most effective way to distract me from my projects! You do realize that now that I have downloaded this that I shall have to start a game and become unavailable until it is done?

By the way, good to see your download page is back.

Downloading now! I always love your graphics Michael. It was you that got me into this crazy hobby in the first place :P

One thing I noticed. The ReadMe file states r21245 is needed, but loading the grf, it states Ver 21455 is needed.

Thanks for your appreciation, it´s from an authorative source. I remember quite well, it was when I directed you towards Ken Taylors US train set project.

A small typo. Well, I think nobody else will read that file.

Hi, great set, I like it so much,
but I found a bug (or feature?): moles can't be built after the year 2000. (I use ottd r21649)

keep up the good work

Most impressive. I might just have to crawl back out from under my rock as well and get back into TTDP ;)

Actually, it has occurred to me that if you look at our 'joined' dates and the current date that a lot of us are coming up on six/seven years in this place

Well, we should use it with reservations.

@George
I´ve been thinking about it and did some tests. Problem is that it´d need some more entries in the GUI, rather than being handled "automagically".
