Post by KingRobot »

Edit: 1.0.4 now ready
http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=50360

Download link:
http://openttd.eisbox.net/files/openttd-1.0.3-OSX.dmg

Release notes:

* Built from version 1.0.3 stable + the mouse patch found at http://bugs.openttd.org/task/2585

* Runs fine on PPC/x86 and 32-bit/64-bit machines tested

* Runs in Mac OS X 10.4 - 10.6 tested

* Unsupported by the general OpenTTD team as usual.

Known bugs:

* If you crash when switching between full-screen mode, PLEASE add to the bug report. We need more information on this one in order to fix it. Haven't seen this one in a while...
See http://bugs.openttd.org/task/3651

* You will not be able to enter many international characters in the text boxes.
See http://bugs.openttd.org/task/2484

* There may still be some minor issues with the mouse pointer showing when you don't expect. This one is almost fixed.
See http://bugs.openttd.org/task/2585

* No longer considered a bug, but do not use older versions of the OpenMSX MIDI tracks that contain the track "Little Blue Box Car". It is corrupt and will crash your game.
See http://bugs.openttd.org/task/3648

Report any other issues below!

Happy OpenTTD-ing.

The behaviour with a trackpad is a bit weird..

Tap 2 fingers on the pad, move up and down, its zooms in and out.
2 fingers on the pad, click and move, it moves the map

I'd have expected different behaviour here, but its no biggy, just odd.

there used to be a setting whether two-finger-scrolling should move the map or zoom...

Might depend how you have your trackpad set up in OS X. For me:
- 2 fingers, move up and down = scroll (equivalent to scroll wheel). On a Mac gui app, I'd expect this to move the viewport, but on games it often seems to zoom.
- 2 fingers click+move doesn't work for me as you describe. It has no result. I have my trackpad set up so two fingers+click is equivalent to right-click (or ctrl-click). For me, 1 finger click+move moves the map.

Turning on Left-click scrolling under interface|interaction in advanced settings has fixed that, cheers to everyone who pointed that out.

Hi,
Thanks for the excellent build. The full screen bug seems to be gone. Thank you.

Hi There,

Thanks for the wonderful build works a charm!

If you guys n gals would like to use two fingers to scroll instead of zoom, you can!
From within OpenTTD go to the advanced options->Interface->Interaction->Function of Scroll Wheel->Scroll Map.

Compile it :P It's easy.

Except when it doesn't work, then you're stuffed and need someone else's help :P But mostly it just works :)

Except when you have a PPC, and you won't download anything or even touch terminal for fear of having no-HD-itis*

 using Terminal causes disk corruption / lost data on PPC? Sounds pretty severe :(

I am really inexperienced with terminal, add to that the fact that I am sharing this computer with my mum and you end up with a potential disaster...

Oh and you missed the other bit:

I've had 1.0.4 running on the Mac since it was released; as many have pointed out it can be built quite readily.

But, for now I'm avoiding the release of any binaries until I (or someone else) comes up with a better mouse-fix patch. The way OpenTTD does it now for the mac is not so great, and the current mouse-fix patch does not fix it totally.

*I am not referring to the 8-bit mouse flicker, but the inconsistent hiding-showing of the mouse when played in windowed mode near the dock.

Is there a bug report which describes the issue? I don't follow you at all as I don't experience any mouse pointer difficulties and I play windowed mode exclusively.

EDIT: talking about http://bugs.openttd.org/task/2585 ? Then maybe you can add more info. It seems not to be a universal issue and possibly is hardware and / or OS-version dependent, maybe 32bit / 64bit?. Maybe you can try different configure options / display drivers and put more constraints on it. Maybe you try to build against the SDK 10.5 or 10.6 instead of 10.4 and it makes a difference?

The easiest way to replicate this bug is to play in windowed mode, drag the window to the bottom of the screen such that the dock overlaps it, then move the mouse from the openttd window over the dock, and back to the openttd window. You should now have a "double-cursor effect".

In any case I did just provide a last attempt at a patch over there... I would be curious if it helps you at all as I can no longer replicate either bug with the latest patch.

Thank you for the explanation, I can follow now what goes wrong; might be that I didn't understand previously. That bug shows here, too, indeed - but only when I come from the menu, not when the mouse enters the window from another side.

Your new patch fixes the issue but unfortunately is still not perfect:
Fri Oct 8 11:43:09 aeolus openttd[96163] <Error>: Not a PNG file
shows in console shortly after starting the game.

EDIT: I'll test the other versions, again, too.

EDIT2: I did some extensive testing. Results in the FS issue: http://bugs.openttd.org/task/2585

Uploaded a v4 of the patch. Same fix except uses a GIF instead of a PNG. No more error.
