Parry People Movers on HS1 just for pure comedy value.

Seriously? On my local line (The Snow Hill lines) I always thought the Class 165's would do a steady job keeping everyone moving. Also, something with more capcity than a 170 on the Birmingham-Cambridge route for when I go to visit my family in Suffolk.

In terms of liveries, I personally miss the older Class 365 NSE trains that ran down the East Coast along with the Intercity 225/125's Swallow Livery trains.

As for trains themselves, I'd quite like to see something like a Pendolino, Voyager or Javelin running along the ECML.
For steam engines, I've seen the Flying Scotsman pass my home town as well as Sir Nigel Gresley, Tornado and one other I can't remember.
I would love to see Mallard and City of Truro pass by sometime. As Flying Scotsman, Mallard and City of Truro are my 3 favorite steam engines and have been since I was quite young.

I was thinking more of a Pacer Service from Wick to Penzance, via the ECML, Kensington Olympia, Clapham Junction, Reading, Bristol TM, then down to Penzance that way, lol or even a pacer from St Pancras - Berlin, lol just for the fun of it

I wish that the 365s were still running the London Victoria - Dover / Ramsgate services that they were under NSE / Connex South Eastern, they were far better than the 375s at the moment, although there are some occasional 465s (but not as good as the 365s)

Really? I'm a regular user of the 365s on the Cambridge to London non-stop service, and we could certainly use some Electrostar stock instead. The 365s are good, but not particularly suitable for an intercity route, particularly when travelling 100mph down the ECML, it's a hot sunny day, all the hopper windows are open, and we enter a tunnel:

BOOM!

S-Stock on the Sub Surface Lines would be nice ;)

the 375s / 377s would be worse since the windows don't usually open (since they are always locked and the air conditioning rarely works), so the 365s would be better when at speed, (although for me, I just liked the 365s better, they had more leg room and a better sounding engine!, although I hate the new front)

I want our proper trains back. How are 150s suitable for limited stop journeys such as Penzance - Bristol TM? I even saw a 142 + 143 doing the service before too! At least on the Portsmouth - Cardiff services the lines aren't used by 125mph units with speed limits higher than 75mph for much fo the way. I want my 158s back!!! Also scaling back the West of England line services to Exeter, just to release a set for doing Exeter - Axminster. I mean WHAT THE HELL! Noone lives in Axminster, plus the entire of east devon is full of people you wouldn't want to meet late at night in a country lane... The usage statistics of the line going westbound from the stations axminster and west are less than 1000 people per day (not including people who boarded before Axminster). Based on the fact that these trains are roughly hourly and are normally composed of either 3 or 6 carriages the average loadings for each train would be about 50 people. By adding a more frequent service (with a combination of Exeter - Waterloo and Exeter - Axminster), this is roughly halved to about 30 per train on average - this is 153 territory, not 159! Those two tunnels between Knebworth and Welwyn North... gewd.
Every dam time I ever go through them a high-speed train passes us and just about blows my ears out and slams any windows shut. Even worse on the class 317's. Doors sound like they are about to get blown off.
Though I've learnt a trick after the many times heading to WGC. If I suddenly feel a 'puff' of wind in the tunnel or any kind of air disturbance I immediately put my fingers to my ears as 99% of the time that means another train has just whizzed into the same tunnel in the opposite direction. Works too

I was on a 319 fast from Luton Parkway to St Pancras when exactly that happened, problem was another fast train passed in the opposite direction while we were still in the tunnel.

That really hurt the ears...

I would quite like that train at the very top running on my local line doing the all stopping service.

Of course with my local being the Bath to Bristol, it would need electrifying and all the bridges over it rebuild. I live in hope.

Class 303 to do Glasgow Central to London Euston, going via the Cathcart and Hamilton Circles.

In general, I just believe the Swedish railway network is in dire need of a major overhaul. We need completely new tracks and we need high speed networks. I'd like to see a +300kph train run Stockholm-Malmö-Copenhagen-Germany

They'll cope. After all the airport Ryanair services (Save/City GSE) is closer than the one use by the more upmarket ones (Landvetter GOT), after all you can get to the general area of Frankfurt via Hahn or the general area of Dusseldorf via Weeze cheaply, or at least possibly cheaper than a high speed line which would cost billions.

The 165 gives a nicer ride though - at least the Chiltern ones are air-conditioned!

I want a train with wireless lan on the route vienna-prag-berlin. I go there every few weeks, and UMTS roaming is so damn expensive.

Chiltern did do quite a good job at refurbishing the 165s.

5 car units (Class 222 "Meridian"/180 "Adelante/Zephyrs") on the Transpennine Express routes (maybe with a few 7/8 car on the busiest diagrams for good measure)

158s on any route pacers currently run.

I still think we need to develop a new, lightweight train, that could be cheap to build and run and that looks attractive (unlike the PPM) - perhaps a diesel powered tram style design, with normal platform level entrance, to replace the pacer.

Seconded!

It would be nice to have somewhere akin to an hourly service on every rural line, if costs could be reduced. Of course though, fuel only composes a small costs of running a railway - I think for East Coast it's as little as 10%.
