Hi there
I'm looking into temporarily purchasing a server to run a giant game of OpenTTD, and I was wondering how many players can the OpenTTD server handle, and an estimate on how much bandwidth that would use?
Cheers

Oh, my bad. I did search, I just couldn't find it ><
Thanks!
Also, got any idea of how much bandwidth it might use?

Re: Maximum Clients
About 2 or 3 kbps per client.

What about map download?XeryusTC wrote:About 2 or 3 kbps per client.
Re: Maximum Clients
map download depends mainly on map size, for multiplayer it is recommended that you don't go over 512x512 maps (or 256x1024), which makes the map about 200 to 500kb. the CPU speed is usually the limiting factor, not the bandwidth.
Re: Maximum Clients
Also disabling trees and tree growth can greatly reduce the size of map (normally 2-4 times, up to 40 times in *very* extreme cases). Trees can be disabled in map generation menu and tree growth in advanced settings, just note that player is still able to plant trees.
