I've been thinking about TTDP, and it's entirely possible to make a decent set for Patch with only 11 ID's. The idea I had is below.

1. 1920 - Sailing ship - Refittable to pretty much everything with appropriate refit graphics
2. 1920 - Small Coastal Freighter - 120T Capacity - Refittable to most cargoes save passengers
3. 1920 - Passenger liner - Passengers and mail
4. 1920 - Ferry - Smaller than the big steamer, would carry passengers and mail, possibly goods and valuables as well - 100 passenger Capy
5. 1920 - Generic Cargo Vessel - Capy approx 200T - Refittable to most cargoes save passengers
6. 1955 - Generic Cargo Vessel - Capy approx 280-300T - Refittable to most cargoes save passengers
7. 1970 - Hovercraft - Passengers and mail only
8. 1980 - Generic Cargo Vessel - Capy approx 400T - Refittable to most cargoes save passengers
9. 2010 - Generic Cargo Vessel - Capy approx 550T - Refittable to most cargoes save passengers
10. 1960 - Coastal Freighter - Same as earlier coaster - 200T capacity
11. 1975 - Modern Passenger Liner (Cruise Ship)
==================
Revisions welcomed. Tankers and cargo vessels could share the same hiull, jst be refit according to cargo.

I for once thought the ID limit was also lifted for TTDPatch?

I hadn't heard that.

Then again, I stopped using patch when OTTD 0.6.1 came out.

Every set I've followed seems to make a switch for TTDPatch with less vehIDs, so it seems a lot of coders think TTDpatch does not support that.

As far as I'm aware TTDpatch does not support more vehicle ids at the moment.

Well, I thought it was about time I made an appearance.

I am back at home but only for a couple of days. I shall then be away again until Monday/Tuesday, and I'll start coding then (sorry for the delay).

For future sprite sets posted here, it would be very helpful to have labels next to each group so that I know what the cargo is supposed to be, instead of me guessing

We went a bit away from the city today, and I though it was good to take some shots that can inspire the artists.

just a thing guys, please try to make this set ECS compatible... It's not hard at all... it _may_ require some more grapics, or atleast some generic ones, but i mean, a oiltanker and a, ehm, milktanker would not look that different ;)

and for an extended set, a fishingboat (trawler) would be supercool ...

if the coder needs some help on this feel free to contact me :)

We should use the standard (ECS) cargo labels, although I don't know where they are, but they are on a wiki page somewhere on ttdpatch site I think. (Michael Blunck explained to me recently that ECS is a standard system, not just a reference to ECS by George).

I've also got sprites and permission for most of the ISR cargoes. I don't have time right now, but will post them later. If no-one else finds the cargo labels in the meantime, I'll put those up as well (race ya?)

cheers,

Andy

I'd vote for ECS support too. Plus, I'd like it if one can choose between several ships. E.g., transporting goods in an oil tanker (as goods can also be liquids), but also in wood products form.

EDIT: And don't forget Toyland.

But please don't forget PBI support. ECS is a standard, but not a universal standard...

Aye, if our coder's skill allow it, it'd be nice to have PBI support too.

How many cargo translation table slots will be needed for support of default, ECS and PBI cargoes?
