VicRail Set [WIP - Artists Welcome]

Post by dev|ant »

I'm feeling ambitious, and I'm dying to see some local trains in TTD, so I'm going to put together a VR set. :D

So what can you do to contribute? That's easy: DRAW! I can manage the coding but my drawing skill are limited and I take literally days just to create one vehicle. So artists are welcome and will be very well supported. The tracking table is located here and is regularly updated, so if you see something there you'd like to draw, jump right in!

I'm also thinking about changing monorail to standard gauge and including some of the interstate vehicles we see down here. But that's something to contemplate in the future.

Also there have been several Australian sets on here that have gone into remission, so if anyone has drawn something for those that they'd like to see included, just post here with a link, grf or image file and if they're in the spirit of the set I'll happily include them. I would be especially grateful if the Ausland set could be finished or released in it's current state, as that would give the trains in this set a proper home.

Ok I think that's about it. I guess I should get to work!

I'm planning to do some Perth suburban units, the Australind and the Prospector trains. Probably better as an all-encompassing Australian set I feel.

you might want to contact Lachie, as he was/is busy with the former Ausset, the NSWRset. it had a landscape and all, as well.

Website is up, it can be found here. I've also started drawing the S Class diesel in VR colours. Still working on the tracking table, that is a few days away I think.

If you want to put together an Australian set, I'd be happy to work on that as well. The potential scope for such a set though is massive - I'd rather work on a set with known, set boundaries. (Oh and I'm still working on the TWM set - but I'll talk about that in it's own thread.)

I'm aware, that's why I mentioned those in the first post. ;) But that set hasn't seen any development in literally years. If anyone that contributed to that set wants to help out here that would be great. As I mentioned, I intend to include NSW locos that regularly make the run down here on freight duties.

I'll try and help out somehow, but don't know much about VR.

I have incomplete Alstom X'Trapolis 100 EMU sprites I'm rather fond of somewhere. I also have a Bombardier VLocity around as well. Once they are completed you can use them in your set, provided I'm given credit for them.

Sounds good! Absolutely, credit will be given to everyone that contributes.

Here is my S class in blue and gold - it's taken me 3 days and still isn't finished, but I can't wait any longer!

Good start, a bit of constructive criticism on the livery though; VR had a much darker shade of blue. A good start though.

That's a cracking start, I must say.

I shall commit to a VR Sprinter first if I may. I'll try and get another BR Set PNG done before I start though.

And here it is.

I'll go over it and see if I can make things darker.

Love it! 8)

I've made a start on the tracking table and have added the latest updates. It's on the website (see sig ;) ).

i was testing the grf at the time, and can ask Lachie for any infosheet and sprites that you could include. ofcourse, you could do that yourself as well.

A high visibility version of the Sprinter to finish the class off.

* goes off to look at suburban sets.

I'll commit to the Siemens EMU first, then may possibly look at the others that aren't claimed, unless Comeng knows something I don't (he has a particular want, that is).

And here is the Siemens EMU. Bloody murder getting that warning panel in, so just left it at two pixels.

EDIT: Clever idea to do the | views with white fronts, no? :D

Nice Sprinter Refurb, the Siemens needs trailers though. I'm touching up my X'Trap now. Please do have a go at the others.

I have a middle carriage in there, if that's what you were thinking of. :)

I'll have a look again for others.

High-vis looks great, spot on I reckon. ;) Siemens is nice, I missed the trailer at first as well. Will update the tracking table...

Looking forward to your X'Trap 523M.

Edit: Finished the AE car.

Edit#2: Actually it looks more like a BW car.
