1. I'm missing the BR 151. Yes there is the 250 but the 151 is special in some aspects. Some engines have a special coupling for the the heavy coal and iron ore gondolas. And it was used in passenger push-pull sevices desite being a heavy freight enige.
Yes, I know. Didn´t we have that discussion before? 8)
Yes we had. I thought putting it onto the wishlist again might help. :-)
michael blunck wrote: Since I don´t have that special iron ore hoppers ("Peine-Salzgitter") in the set, there´s no need for an automatic central buffer coupling, do you think? Concerning push-pull service, I have already too many engines for that in the set and it´s a load of work under the current scheme (which will not work under OTTD, BTW ...)
You could add that special hoppers too. :-)

And the push-pull functinallity can be added to OpenTTD. OpenTTD gets new functinallity every couple of of days.
michael blunck wrote: I included the BR86 a couple of weeks ago.
This one will be more useful for branch lines, either passenger or freight. Well, this one was also heavily used in push-pull services ...
That is great news.
michael blunck wrote: With regards to the V36: Well, I think it´s too small (I have it as animation in some of my new industries and as cargo load) and too weak for serious usage. As to the V140, this was just the first real diesel engine, so it´s of historical value, mostly. Unfortunately, due to WWII, there were no other diesel engines, except for those of the army, so we´d have to live with the V140.
The army used many V36. But if we have to live with the V40 I don't mind too much.
michael blunck wrote: Re: "The BR 38 [...] was the last steam enigine that the DB ever bought", that must be a typo? The BR38 (P8) is already in the set since years. Possibly you´re speaking about the BR23?
Oh, ofcourse the 23. I always mix that numbers. I was thinking of something beside the V40 that you can buy in the 60s when the V200 was used on the mainlines. The 01 look strange on the branchlines.
michael blunck wrote:
3. I'm missing some futuristic vehicles. The set gets really boring after 2020. The older lokomotives become unreliable and there is no replacement. Only the BR 182 and the ICE 3 are still usable then.
Well, you don´t need to play such late. Normally, when under TTDPatch and having been starting in 1921, there´s not much use in playing any further. Which may be a different cup of tea with OTTD´s larger maps, though. OTOH, there are (still) no real vehicles of the DB past 2020 which I know of, so - sorry.
There is still much to do on the bigger OpenTTD maps after 20202.
michael blunck wrote: I´m checking possibilities to have some more modern stock in non-DB company colours for the late years. Unfortunately, those won´t be any stronger or faster than the already existing 182 or ICE-3, resulting in only limited use for "realistic" players but not for the general audience.
There doesn't need to be any stronger and faster than the BR 182, only some more modern stock that doesn't get unrilable too soon.

michael blunck wrote: Thanks for your constructive interest (as always).
I'm a big fan of your set and I think some ideas and feedback from the users of your set might help you.

I think fjb, you are forgetting, there aren't that many IDs ;)
Of course we'd love to see every train in the set but I think we can trust Michael to come up with the best comprise, eh? :)

Merry christmas!

And even if there were (I guess there´s work in OTTD to have more than 256 veh-IDs at the same time), that wouldn´t be a general solution. Already now, there are some engines following each other in a too rapid pace to use them all in time. Then there´s the war times where no new engines were launched historically for a couple of years, and the years after 2020. In addition, game-wise, there won´t be a need to include "every" engine into the set: some were of no historical importance, some are useless in game, and some are too similar to already existing ones.

So, if there´d be more veh-IDs some day, I see two possibilities to enhance this set:

- going back in time, e.g., 1900, and
- include east-german vehicles in some way or the other.

I just spotted this one Michael, I'm running a BR112 with the traffic red local coaches. In the purchase menu it states they are limited to 87mph (140km/h). Like any other speed limited wagon in the set it runs at this speed when loaded. When empty it will run at up to 100mph (160km/h). I don't know if this is a limitation of the patch setting but I don't think it is realistic. Just thought I'd let you know. Certainly was a suprise when I realised that the train I'd built was speeding along at 160km/h until it stopped and was then trundling around at a not so impressive 87! :P

Is it possible to perhaps make the speed of the latest version of the local coach 100mph? or make it so that it runs at 87mph when empty as well. I don't mind which.

Yes, that´s kind of funny, but it´s because of the way TTDPatch implements the feature "wagonspeedlimits". On the one hand, speed limits don´t matter if a livery override occurs (but not in your case because of a regular local coach!), and OTOH, TTDPatch has different speed limits depending on the load of wagons. This is a great feature for freight wagons, but apparently, it makes not much sense with coaches. 8)

I´ll have to think about a solution.

Thanks for pointing this out, I´ve never spotted it for myself nor was it brought to my attention before. Doh.

I'm pretty sure you could control how much faster the wagonspeedlimits switch allowed emtpy wagons to travel. It depends on what number you set on the switch, but you cannot go below 1 or it will shut off the whole feature if i remember right.

The wiki describes the switch in detail.

Problem is that you cannot differentiate between freight wagons and coaches in this way. You´ll either have that speed bonus for all wagons/coaches or for none.

For freight wagons, the slightly higher speeds when empty are a handy feature, IMO.

Is there any reason for the local coach to be limited to 87mph? Why not just increase the speed to 100mph, that would get around this problem at least.

Because, according to my documents, all modern local coaches of the DB have a speed limit of 140 km/h. OTOH, long-distance coaches have a speed limit of 160 km/h or 200 km/h.

That´s the one thing. The other is that this effect only shows in that particular case because there´s no "livery override". If there´d be a livery override, TTDPatch wouldn´t use a speed limit at all.

First I have to apologize 'cause maybe it's only my problem, but everytime I am trying to download Michael Blunck's NewStations v 0.44, files seems to be version 0.42 dated 27.12.2005. But latest addition is from 1.8.2007.
Where could be problem, did I misunderstood something?
Sorry for my english, not a native speaker either...

Hi,

I use the DBSet XL V0.82 plus ECS extensions V0.82 but could not find a wagon before 1950 to transport vehicles.

Is this intended?

To transport vehicles?

Do you mean a car transporter? If so, there is only 1 version i believe and it comes out probably just after 1950.

Yes, unfortunately. Because there are only 2 wagons which resemble to that specific cargo, and both are only available after 1950.

Seems I´ll have to design an early vehicle transporter for 0.9 just for the sake of George´s ECS vectors?

Maybe you could simply use a low-side wagon? I've seen many models of old 2-axle low-side wagons transporting cars.

I can't imagine the transport of vehicles by rail being that common before the 1950s being that common because until then, not many had people owned cars so they were not mass produced as they are now-a-days. You could adapt the stake wagon to be a flat bed car though?

Just my thoughts.
