Please help, I can't get new graphics to work

I may simply be confused, but I don't understand how to get any new graphics to work. I have downloaded the new stations graphics, for example. I have them listed in the newgrfw.cfg. Now when I start TTDPatch, I see that the new stations are listed and green. How can I get to the new stations from here? I can't find them.

Do you see drop down menus from the station interface?

No, I didn't. When I click the station icon in the railroad menu, I get the normal rail station selection menu.

What Patch version are you using.
If it's 2.01 rev it won't work.
Get the latest nightly, that's stable and give you all new options.

I was using 2.5.0.90. I have now downloaded the nightly, which gives me an error for the DB set (File "newgrf/dbsetw.grf" has invalid sprite #2,012 (code 5/40)). It doesn't show me anything new though, at least not as far as stations go.

Edit: also, I have now tried removing the faulty graphics set. Other than the error message going away I see no change.

Perhaps some switch in the config file (ttdpatch.cfg if I remember correctly) is disabled...?

I thought of that, but given my limited experience I wouldn't have a clue where (which options) to start. I also did a check for any options I thought may be connected to the issue on the ttdpatch wiki but couldn't really find any.

Edit: I now have disabled all other graphics I've tried except the stations one (and the required ones for ttdpatch), to not overcomplicate things. Still not a clue, though.

You need to have "newstations on" in your ttdpatch.cfg for new stations to work. Once you have that switched on, use the two drop-down menus (see this post) to choose which station you want to build.

i suggest you use the DBsetXL, which is much better. there's an update on the way of that, even.

Edit: also, I'm kind of wondering. I have seen screenshots where people use specific cargo-type stations (the one that I remember most is coal), and I would really like to use those. I can't find them anywhere though. Could somebody point me in the right direction?

If so, that's the Industrial Stations set, which you can download from here. There's also a newer version which is currently in progress, you can get that from here if you want to test it out.
